  1. Bill Cole, Sam Rivers, Warren Smith - The First Cycle - (Music from Dartmouth)
  2. Wow. RIP And 2007 looks to be another tough one of musicians' passings...
  3. RIP indeed. Though my experience with his playing is limited, heard many kind words from his peers. He will be missed.
  4. I was having dinner last night at a local beer + burger joint (with the Crescent girl) and there was a lone guy answering every Jeapordy question loudly to himself. Not unlike your BN # recitation, I presume, or mine for ESP!
  5. I used to have it on LP and was not impressed. Maybe another go-round would change things, but I think I'll skip the download method.
  6. Thanks - I knew you'd know, probably without even looking!
  7. "HBMF" usually translates to something different, but...
  8. Yeah, those Japanese Riversides aren't too hot. Have had superb luck with the BNs (King & Toshiba), which almost make the Classic reissues - at least some of them - sort of superfluous. Then again, Japanese pressings of things like Hank (where's Michel with those catalog #'s?) are still big-ticket, for whatever reason.
  9. He ain't gonna be buying no Classic reissues...
  10. Sidewinder needs to get over here; he has quite a few of these, I think.
  11. Guess I should burn it for 7/4 for his birthday!
  12. Yeah, it would be nice to see it out again with the original artwork by Marte Roling! One of my favorite jazz LPs, for sure...
  13. I had a dream about Grachan last night - that somebody was issuing more music from the quartet with Hutcherson, McBee and Beaver Harris. Sadly, there isn't any more than was issued (guess that's why it was a dream)...
  14. Tears for Dolphy, brother.
  15. This is the cover of the Esquire edition of 'Outward Bound'. Oops, that was the one I was thinking of. Thanks.
  16. Happy Belated... Glad it was a good one. "7/4 Funny Time" is a great Ted Curson tune, btw, tho surely everyone here knew that.
  17. I heard those places do exist. I have not seen one for myself as yet... Enjoy, and tell us what it's like!
  18. The one LP I have with his work on it, a CP2/Zukofsky bit, has some stuff that reminds me of Silva's "Luna Surface." Needless to say, it's heavy. You know, I'd rather share a birthday with him than with Elvis anyway.
  19. I'd always wanted to get those Boy Edgar LPs on Artone but never scored 'em. Thanks, as always, for posting info about the current Dutch jazz scene. It's always good to know there's more than ICP/WBK out there!
  20. OK, good to know. Knowing Reece, it's possible that he knows something we don't! Too bad the Futura still hasn't been reissued. It's a wonderful record.
  21. Fellow Capricorn! Happy birthday and hope it's wonderful.
  22. UP! Funny enough, I generally don't like Drake's playing. However, I LOVE this disc and his playing on it. Highly recommended... this and the Rob Brown have been my favorite Rogue Art discs so far. Less so the R Mitchells but then again I'm not entirely on the horse with Roscoe's recent group work. The band on Frequency is hip; I may have to investigate it, even if it's not earth-shaking.
  23. Is this the same cover art as US edition ? Never seen the Esquire... Now spinning : Kenny Dorham "MATADOR" UA original US. A fine version of Little Melonae...A fine Jackie and Kenny session. Esquires usually have different artwork. I believe this one had a white cover with red and green print, and a photo of Eric. Some of the Esquires are stunning, but none look f-ugly. And the sound is, from what I hear, worth the price... Matador is amazing. My Japanese pressing is just fine, though not a textured jacket!
  24. Really? I've got a few, bought many years ago at about £3/4 each. 'NY Fall 1974', 'Montreux/Berlin'. Those were my favorites. Shoulda kept 'em but was paring down the collection at the time. I always forget that these were at one time on CD. I can't speak for their rarity in that medium, but the LPs are usually under $10 and very common. It would be nice to see the material issued in a CD box set form. In fact, I might just wait until that happens to get this stuff back.
  25. Again, I'll prop this one: Reece at AAJ
