  1. Maybe I should just switch instruments!
  2. Don't have a scanner at home... I think that, yes, the sculpture is in LA. I will look and see exactly what/where it is when I'm off work.
  3. Why don't you and soulstation just make babies - THAT would be history!
  4. I love the Evans rec, cover and all, as I've said elsewhere. The Drew has not got many spins from me, though I probably should give it some refreshing...
  5. Truer words have never been spoken.
  6. I buy organic, tasteless bulk stuff at the local co-op. I am also nearly run over in the lot every time by some scumbag in a Prius. Go figure.
  7. Great record. He's blogging some nice stuff, for sure.
  8. Go for it with all you got, and then some. I am, but it's complicated...
  9. Alan Shorter started out as a saxophonist and switched to trumpet. My "on-and-off-again," who digs on Wayne, observed very astutely how much Alan's trumpet playing has the same keen and a lot of the same phraseology as his brother. If only I could marry this girl... anyway, it was a good point.
  10. Shit yeah! Now what would Chuck charge just to hear the shit now?!?
  11. Thalia Zedek - Trust Not Those in Whom Without Some Touch of Madness - (Thrill Jockey) pretty great somber solo LP from the force behind Come and, for a time, Live Skull...
  12. Popsike is annoying. I tried to sell a few pieces to a shop, and they couldn't verify they were valuable because "they weren't on Popsike." Guess you can't account for the ignorance of a seller on either side of value...
  13. Not bad - solid. I have the original America vinyl of this one, AM 6128.
  14. Somebody will buy it for $1200, I'm sure.
  15. I grew up in Topeka. It's definitely acid Western...
  16. As I recall, Summers was a member of the Soft Machine very early on. That I didn't know. I think of early Softs as Ayers, Allen, Ratledge and Wyatt.
  17. I too only know him from the Russell LPs, but he's great on them. I'll have to dig those out when they're done remodeling my house!
  18. Cool!
  19. I only have the LP as issued and not the extra material, but will give it a spin this week. There's a nice version of "Greensleeves" from the Noah Howard/Frank Lowe juggernaut of the early '70s which floats around on free jazz trees from time to time.
  20. I concur. Fuck the Police. "I'd be riding horses if they let me..."
  21. I want to see Dave Thorley get on a plane and kick the dude's ass for $8,000... I mean, the whole thing is ridiculous, but it would be fun to see a soul DJ get on a plane and bring the noise!
  22. I haven't heard the TVT record, actually. The Revenant set should be interesting when/if it comes out. I hadn't heard plans of a reunion, but I'm usually pretty out of the loop on such things. Guess it would boost sales, at least!
  23. Can - "Mother Sky" (or Swell Maps' "Full Moon in my Pocket") Both fine '70s psychedelic minimalist anthems... and I can't get the basslines out of my head. Edit to clarify that the Swell Maps' version is a punk homage to the Can tune.
  24. $100? It's coming down in price, then! I've not heard these, though for whatever reason, Milton Suggs' presence is always a welcome thing.
