  1. I am looking for this article: 1/24/06 For This Jazz Drummer, The Beat Goes On
  2. Does anyone here subscribe to Wall Street Journal??? If so, can you check if there is a photo of Paul Motian I (Shoji Ichikawa) sent to WSJ yesterday? I was asked to provide a photo to go with their article yesterday, but I am not sure if they got it on time. I was going to see if anyone can check before I pay $4.95 online. Thanks!
  3. I live around there, but have never been to the venue...
  4. I should have gone with my wife's picks yesterday, but I can't pick teams like her. She decides her picks based on how coaches look (appearence).
  5. I got put my picks in before the games... I will take a chance and pick two teams playing away games today (Pittsburgh and Carolina).
  6. Konica Minolta has just announced that they will be completely getting out of their camera business by this March. SONY will inherit their SLR line. Times are definitely changin'...
  7. Here is the calendar of Jazz Kitchen. Clearly, David Allee (the owner of Jazz Kitchen) is booking more guitar and/or organ groups lately (more vocals, too). I don't know why he hasn't booked Organissimo!!! Anyway, I liked the Jimmy Smith tribute song on Tony Monaco's website. I might even go to the concert next month.
  8. Tony Monaco comes to Indy quite often. In fact, he will be playing here next month. I have never heard his music. I would be interested to know what others think of this CD and his other recordings.
  9. I agree with you 100%. If not for the bogus call, I thought Pats had a good shot at winning the game (even with 5 turnovers).
  10. Local media (in Indianapolis) are already talking about next year. Reggie Wayne, Edgerrin James, and Dwight Freeney will be free agents, and the Colts can't keep all three next year. This may have been their best year to win it all.
  11. Apparently, he played just fine today. If he had returned the Bettis' fumble for touchdown, Harper would have been a hero.
  12. I didn't do too well this weekend, huh? The Patriots had a good chance of winning at Denver, but I think the pass interference call at the end of 1st half totally changed the momentum. The Colts were supposed to win today's game, but it looks like Pittsburgh had a great game plan. They just outplayed the Colts. At least, the last quarter was very enjoyable to watch.
  13. I don't think anything drastic will happend before the games, so here is my pick. Carolina (I don't see Bears scoring enough points to win this game.) New England (Nobody beats Broncos in Denver, but I have to go with Patriots because they never lose in playoffs!) Indianapolis (I am not a Colts fan, but I doubt Steelers offense can keep up with Colts offense.) Seattle (Seahawks are simply a better team than Redskins.)
  14. That's sad. I haven't made a switch to a digital camera, yet. I have been waiting for the price of high-end SLR to go down, but sooner or later I have to buy a digital SLR.
  15. I didn't play during regular season, and Washington at Tampa Bay is already in the third quater. But if it's not too late, here is my pick: Washington New England Carolina Pittsburgh
  16. Not to be, I'm afraid. Still, a very nice ending to the Vermeil era. AFC is tough this year, considering a 10-6 team didn't make the playoffs. The Chiefs' main problem this year was winning road games. If they'd had one more win they'd likely be in. Cincinnati didn't need this game but they're not playing well going into the playoffs. They got their ass kicked, although losing this game didn't hurt them. It will be interesting to see what's next for the Chiefs. Yeah, I was hoping the Lions beat the Steelers and the Chiefs get in the playoff. But I guess it wasn't meant to be... I wish I could have watched Vermeil's last game, but I couldn't because the Colts were on Fox. I still don't understand why the local CBS (or Fox) can't show other NFL games when the Colts are playing in the same time slot.
  17. Where are they playing tonight? I didn't know Mel now lives in NY.
  18. I don't think he has played in the U.S. for a while. Here is his official webiste. I saw him in my hometown 15 years ago. I didn't know anything about jazz at that time (I was in high school in a small town in Japan), so I can't comment on how his played that time. But I remember getting his autograph. Now that I appreciate this music called jazz, I would like to see him live again.
  19. I have ordered some cartridges from this site in summer, and their cartridges work just fine. Even when my Epson printer stopped printing, Epson fixed it for no charge even though the warranty has expired. They did this because they might know about faulty assembly in ceratin printer models including mine. So, I am not sure if they do that for every printer.
  20. Sad news, indeed. I really liked Miyagi-san.
  21. ...now, that's not very nice Indianapolis is a beautiful city!!! Is that why you live in Carmel? ...well, to me they are one and the same....just a nice little suburb of Indy. I only put Carmel on my profile because it's my mailing address. I did live in the heart of the city for many years in a renovated school built in the late 1800's...very nice with a great veiw of the city! Now Jazzmessenger is picking on me.....he hasn't been on the boards in weeks and he's picking on me !!! m~ Hey Mark, I was just joking (although I don't think Carmel and Indianapolis are "one and the same".) I have been around the forum, but I wasn't postng as much as I used to.
  22. My wife and I go to outlet mall every year, but we are staying home this year as we need to cut down our spending for new tires on two cars...
  23. ...now, that's not very nice Indianapolis is a beautiful city!!! Is that why you live in Carmel? I was going to ask the same thing
  24. I bought "Triple Helix" while I was in Japan last January, but haven't listened to the disc, yet... I have his early recordings around 1970: Feelin' Good and Swing Journal Jazz Workshop 1. I got them relatively cheap at Red Trumpet sale and like them both. I also have "From the Heart" (Somethin' Else), but don't like as much as his earlier recordings.
  25. What about Japan? No. Almost all families don't have a dishwasher. Actually, I had never seen one or known of its existence until I moved to the States.
