  2. Thanks for the info! Does anyone know what's on the Jimmy Smith set? When did Mosaic start releasing CDs (along with LPs)?
  3. How hard is it to obtain contents of the following Mosaic sets as individual CDs (not Mosaic partials)? I think most of the Jazz Messengers and Lee Morgan sets can be had as individual CDs, but I am not sure. Are the discographies of each set still availble online? 120 The Complete Recordings of the Paul Desmond Quartet with Jim Hall 121 The Complete Blue Note 45 Sessions of Ike Quebec 131 The Complete Recordings of the Stan Getz Quintet with Jimmy Raney 137 The Complete Blue Note Recordings of Larry Young 141 The Complete Blue Note Recordings of Art Blakey’s 1960 Jazz Messengers 145 The Complete Blue Note Recordings of Don Cherry 147 The Complete Serge Chaloff Sessions 151 The Complete Solid State Recordings of the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra 154 The Complete February 1957 Jimmy Smith Blue Note Sessions 159 The Phil Woods Quartet/Quintet 20th Anniversary Set 161 The Complete Blue Note Andrew Hill Sessions (1963-66) 162 The Complete Blue Note Lee Morgan Fifties Sessions
  4. Just 185 sets left as of 11:30 a.m. this morning...
  5. It's kind of late... But the review and photographs from the concert can be found here.
  6. I didn't think any board memeber would do this for me. Thank you!!! That web site has my old photographs. If interested, check out JazzReview.com Photography Gallery for more recent ones. You can find all my photos by entering my name "shoji" in "Photographer" section at JazzReview.com Search Page.
  7. The festival got significantly smaller than previous years. And, it seems like the lineup is getting worse every year... Some of the performers aren't jazz at all, and some have already played at the festival before. I am still going just to see performances by the Indy Jazz Legend, Slide Hampton and Joey DeFranceso (maybe Gary Burton, too).

  9. messenger... you gotta finish listening to the whole set... ! It really is fantastic... One of my favs is "Bop Be." Okay, Okay. I will finish listening to the rest of the set in the near future...
  10. I rarely ever read any thread in the polical forum, so I was glad this was posted in non-political thread.
  11. I have never heard of Mr. Korematsu before your post. Thank you for posting this.
  12. You really don't need to pay for tax software unless you want to. I have never bought one myself. You can file your tax for free, using one of websites (incluidng TurboTax) available through the IRS website. The key is that you have to go to the software sites from the IRS website.
  13. I picked up this box set for $30 1 1/2 years ago, but haven't passed disc 4, yet. But this doesn't mean I don't like the set. I just have too many other CDs to listen to.
  14. I just finished last weekend. I had to send more money to both federal and state....
  15. jazzmessenger, PM me if you decide to come into town. I'll likely see all three of those shows. Will do! I wish I lived closer to Chicago. I don't know how Mark (sheldonm) seems to visit Jazz Showcase (from Indy) every another week or so...
  16. I have never been to Jazz Showcase. Maybe I should go there to hear Tom Harrell, Bobby Hutcherson or Steve Turre...
  17. Congrats, guys!
  18. Yes!!! And, I love that CD.
  19. I don't know anything about the vendor, but the obi in the image indicates it's Taiwansese (rather than Japanese). Maybe it was also released in Taiwan.
  20. I saw Melvin Rhyne quite often in past three years, but have never seen him play organ. He always plays piano or some other keyboards. I wish he would play organ in live shows... The ower of local jazz club told me that Melvin is amazing on organ.
  21. I think I saw your post in January and picked up several Arabesque titles at very low price. Thanks!
  22. I don't have many Dex CDs, but I voted for GO! All songs on that ablum are excellent.
  23. Ghost, Thank you for posting the article. I knew about their financial trouble, but I am glad to hear that someone still cares about the festival. IMO, the Detroit Jazz Festival is by far the best festival I have been to. I hope the festival will go on for many more years to come.
  24. I didn't know Geri Allen is that old, either. I saw her a few years ago at the Iowa City Jazz Festival, but I thought she was still in her late 30's!!!
