  5. Many well-known names from the musical scene of my native island! With family around, I've listened to "Folklore Réunionnais", a compilation of Sega music, the other music genre along with maloya on th island. Side B is wonderful. Discovering now: Stan Getz - Focus. Getz seems a bit on auto-pilot, but I like the arrangements and thought the strings and sax were blending very well. Starting the afternoon with: earl meets harry (B&B).
  6. Jazz by Sun Ra Vol. 1 Young Man Mose !!
  7. Konstrukt and Alexander Hawkins - Live at Cafe OTO Great vibe

  9. Thanks for the tip, I'll listen to the complete version on Deezer at work. Before work was Billie and Dede Pierce: blues in the classic tradition. Careless love! Nobody knows you! Chris A.!
  10. Zoot Sims - Cookin'! A beautiful copy from the vaults of G.E. Mechen, Brighton. A remarkable session recorded at the RS Club in the early 60s. Awesome Stan Tracey! The cover is as colourful as the liner notes are: "in these days of tortuous harmonic complexity,..., his distinctive tenor was always a very warm and exciting voice among the often pale intellectualized and over-arranged sounds produced at the time."
  11. Gene Ammons time! Boss Tenor and three Prestige twofers: 78 era, Gentle Jug, with Dodo.
  12. Gosh, after seing very popular 100+ pages thread unintentionally vanishing in utter indifference, the same goes on but intentionally. A pity. And I sure disliked the high proportion of politically-related cartoons. Please think about locking a thread instead of deleting it, thanks.
  13. Dexter has been Calling a lot in the past few afternoons!
  14. Spook Jazz!
  15. Boom-Jackie-Boom-Chick (2017 reissue) !!
  16. I like it. Good complementarity between Tracey and Babbington. "I let a song" is just beautiful. I was not won over by the record Tracey has made with Rouse around the same period, but I will give it another try someday.
  17. And Histoire de Melody Nelson tonight!
  18. Great selection over the week-end (Dini S. has been reissued!):
  19. Stan Tracey plays Duke Ellington Sonny Rollins What's New Dexter Calling...
  20. Great movie, great soundtrack and a beautiful cover! Even more Smiles recently: Tonight Blakey's African Beat. The ORTF (National Radio&TV Office way before I was born) knew how to brand their records:
  21. During the week-end: In the Bechet gatefold, I found dozen of typewritten sheets for radio programs from a well-known journalist and broadcaster. Very instructive and well-written. Can you guess who he is? I am lucky to have a tiny chunk of his former collection now. A beautiful record this morning: Montrose-Jolly Quartet: "Better Late Than Never".
  22. Having a blast with my recent purchases: Is there a way/link to download a full thread? It would be sad to see the current one vanish into the "Oops, let's just move on" category.
