Yes, 2017 will be the year I re-discovered Waldron while listening to old favorites (including Reflections) and a bunch of new platters (including Sweet Lover, Bitter). Hope I finally manage to listen to One-Upmanship in 2018! This evening was: Radiohead - In Rainbows (either the record aged very well, or I did not, maybe both!) I have not listened to their 2016 record yet, another record I plan to discover in 2018. Dexter Gordon - Doin' Allright (just noticing the 2 l) Clifford Jordan Quartet - Glass Bead Games This album (Side A in particular) always moved me. I love the rendition of Dear Old Stockholm (almost as much as the one from Jutta Hipp) Ervin on Portrait of Vivian!

I enjoy Blue Train a lot, but it's not near a favorite. I was surprised (and disappointed) to buy an early pressing with BLP on the cover and the label, but stamped as RVG Stereo in the wax (I guess I should have checked more in detail). I have read than a few Liberty repressings have used old stocks of labels mislabeledly...

Thanks for the info and the link! To divert a bit more to the Guidi/Tri-Arts covers, I always wondered who was the illustrator of the animal covers (Shelly Manne's birds, penguins and cat, Hawes's alligator, Previns's Lion, ...). I assumed it was Guidi, but I realized recently that the Penguins (the three & the two) were drawed by Irene Trivas. She might then behind the other animal covers, but it's difficult to find more info about Guidi/Tri-Arts.

Overall good. The session is clearly a project rather than a Let's-do-another-tribute. Every tune has a pretty original rendition. The piano of De Wilde is aery and yet very precise, a delight. The trio functions well, and I was happy to hear the bassist Regard that I had the opportunity to catch live many times with the pianist Alfio Origlio when I was in Grenoble. A few tunes relies on a repetitive pattern (the first two tunes in particular) than may be present in the original compositions but which does not work out very well for me. Some tunes are excellent (the tune from de Wilde, Friday the 13th, 4 in 1). A bit too thought-out maybe, but a very good experience as a listener.

Selling a Mosaic set on ebay without a proper mention of Mosaic or no mention at all is major mistake and the ending price does not represent its actual value. The poor filters/categories on ebay make it difficult to track down a specific record, unless you make multiple searches, a real hassle. And it's got worse over the years. My steal of the year was the Nat King Cole 27 LPs, almost sealed and delivered for $120. When discogs will start selling lots and do auctions, Ebay will look even more pathetic, musicwise.

Classy! I happen to have the Moondog Esquire LP but without the cover ( the LP was in The Second City Jazzmen 32-053 that I got for almost nothing). I may consider having the corresponding cover art, thanks for the thread. I have a soft spot for Esquire original covers and the sound of the records is unique (if I manage to listen to them as some platters are a bit over 30cm and my turntable won't spin, like Hawk Eyes).

It is part of the 4 volumes issued by Pablo and recorded in Washington D.C. with the Bill Potts Trio in early December 1956 (https://www.discogs.com/search/?q=pablo+lester+young+potts&format_exact=Album&type=master). I realize just now that there is a fifth volume issued in the late 90s (https://jazztimes.com/reviews/albums/lester-young-in-washington-d-c-1956-volume-five/). No exact recording dates are provided on the LPs. Pointless to rank/rate them, but the series as a whole is beautiful, my go-to records from Pres in the 50s.

Gildo Mahones, that's a new name to me! Browsing quickly the 55-65 RVG sessions on Wikipedia early this week was of no avail to identify this track, but it's well and truly there! Thanks for the BFT!
