  1. John Coltrane - A Love Supreme Tubby Hayes - After lights out
  2. If there is room, anytime during the - boreal - fall. let's say November!
  3. Randy Weston ‎– Uhuru Afrika (recent reissue) J Dilla ‎– Ruff Draft Beats Martial Solal - Son 66 with puns like "Ile de Ré Bémol", "Leloir est Cher", "Morceau de Cantal". I had no clue Solal enjoyed calembours!
  4. I listened to this record yesterday. Another beauty with Riley. More featuring the drummer this evening: Sonny Rollins - The Bridge (RCA twofer) Alice Coltrane - Ptah The El Daoud Thelonious Monk - Underground And certainly some Sphere's ROIO later on, I never quite warmed up to their official releases but love their live stuff.
  5. It reminds of my recent read from Desmond/Hall Mosaic: Brubeck, who has never spent more than ten minutes of his life at an electric organ, much less the one he is now at, is producing sounds like an early Atwater-Kent Synthesizer. (Later he makes a few major breakthroughs, like locating the volume control pedal and figuring out how to wiggle his right hand, achieving a tremolo effect similar to Jimmy Smith with a terminal hangover, but doesn’t help much.)
  6. Mal Waldron Trio - Moonglow and Stardust (mmo) Dollar Brand - Memories (west54) Abdullah Ibrahim - Ekaya (ekapa) feat. Ben Riley
  7. Thank you for the music, Mr. Riley.
  8. And prime NHØP! I wonder whatever became of the fine drummer Norman Fearrington. Just finishing Genesis - Wind & Wuthering and I am quite disappointed or at least strongly underwhelmed compared to old-time listenings. Spinning now Benny Carter All Stars on Sonet (with Norvo, Parlan, Nat Adderley).
  9. Chet Baker Quartet ‎– No Problem
  10. Abdullah Ibrahim ‎– Water From An Ancient Well Zélia Barbosa ‎– Brésil (Sertão & Favelas) RIP Zélia.
  11. Warne Marsh - Warne out David S. Ware Trio - Passage To Music
  12. Sutton & Braff (CJ101) Time to make my way through the Chaz Jazz series and this duet is a great way to start! Charlie Byrd - Aquarius It sounds like a poor karaoke tape of the greatest hits of the 60s. Sonny Rollins plus 4 (OJC) Now we are talking!!!!
  13. Lee Konitz - Tranquility
  14. Jimmy Knepper Quintet - Cunningbird Ooooh Yeah
  15. Muhal Richard Abrams ‎– Colors In Thirty-Third Lennie Tristano Quintet ‎– Live In Toronto 1952

  19. Does it match with that performance?
  20. Georges Arvanitas - The Hound of Music
  21. Certainly posted somewhere else on the board, but here is an interview of JdJ by Anthony Brown back in 2011: http://amhistory.si.edu/jazz/DeJohnette-Jack/DeJohnette_Jack_Interview_Transcription.pdf
