  2. Pat Martino 'East !' (Prestige blue label - kindly signed on the front cover by Mr M.) 'The Jazz Workshop Vol 3 - Ada Moore' (OJC reissue of the Debut LP)
  3. My King LP has also been 'gathering dust' so this is a good excuse to get it out of the rack.
  4. With a bit of luck, they'll just send a spare disk out (I hope).
  5. It seems to be right throughout the disk. So far, the rest have been fine. I'll give it another try today.
  6. The Fats Sadi disk is now up for sale at Dusty...
  7. Clark-Boland Big Band 'Latin Kaleidoscope' (French MPS) Hank Mobley 'Roll Call' (BN 47W6rd mono)
  8. That one's SABA ST-15136 on the LP ('Out of the Background'). Just this afternoon have been playing SABA ST-15137 'Flirt and Dream - Francy Boland In The Background' He moved pretty quickly out and back in to the background !
  9. This is as much as I've ever seen the Count Basie Roulette Live CD set go for.. Basie Live Roulette and not even near-mint !
  10. The label last seemed to be on a real roll back in the late 80s/early 90s with Don Pullen, Ralph Peterson 'Fotet, Geri Allen and Tony William's Quintet (those were the days..) but seemed to lose it there-after.
  11. A good excuse to bring the Hank Mobley 'Thinking of Home' LP out. I like Eddie's playing on this album and it's good to hear that he's still very much musically active. I wonder what the circumstances were which resulted in him recording with Mobley for this one-off?
  12. J.R. Monterose J.R. Q
  13. Indeed... Just spinning: Hank Mobley 'Dippin' (BN NY USA mono) preceded by: George Braith 'Two Souls In One' (BN NY USA mono)
  14. Working my way through the Bill Evans Village Vanguard LP set.
  15. Another Riverside mono original: Cannonball Adderley 'Quintet at the Lighthouse' Followed by selections from the Bill Evans Mosaic LP set.
  16. Yes, paired with Vol 1 of the Howard McGhee in the 10" Conns.
  17. that's a great film! It's about the leader of a jazz trio (Teddy, played by Helge Schneider) playing in a club without an audience. To make the ends fit, Teddy has to take on additional jobs as gigolo (!), as newspaper boy and selling fish. Some hilarious scenes (if you like this kind of humour) and then some awesome playing in a Monkish vein. The trio dreams of being as famous as Earl Mobiley, a drummer who has vanished from the scene. The story ends in a Sun Ra fest. This film had an even lower budget than the previous Helge fims, but that only adds to the tragical undertone. Great. I'll bundle that one in with the next order..
  18. My suspicion on the 'new' Tubby Hayes issues is that they may well have the same mastering as previously, some of which ('100% Proof') were from mono LPs I think. The recent UK Universal issues seem to have used the same sources as the previous Japanese issues so this 'new' issue may just be a re-run. Hope I'm wrong..
  19. It looks as though the Bill Evans 'Last Waltz' is now sold out, although 'Consecration' is still available so I've put in an order for that one. There's also the Miles Davis 1985 'Live In Montreal' DVD available for a whopping Eur 4.99 ! Notice also that that German language film 'Jazzclub' with Jimmy Woode is also listed in the 'Merkheft'.
  20. Yes, my CD3 on the Art Pepper is a 'Mikulski' but the other ones I've checked are 'ZYX'. I'm happy enough just to be able to read the booklet without a microscope. Postscript - the sound on the 'Mikulski' CD I've tried out seems fine, to me.
  21. My order also showed up - also the full size Art Pepper and Bill Evans sets with booklets plus the Dexter Gordon Prestige (highly recomended). There seems to be a bit of skipping on CD1 of the Dexter but from past experience 2001 should replace it. Remastering on the Dexter Gordon, as with the other Fantasy/Prestiges, is another fine job by Kirk Felton
  22. Miles Davis 'Someday My Prince Will Come' (Columbia 2-eye stereo). Very under-rated album with equally fine Hank Mobley.
  23. Brilliant, thanks for sharing. I wonder who the french horn was that night in the line up? Vince Chauncey?
  24. Just all those old Roman tiles you get when you start looking for Mosaics..
