  1. Not so bad then. I only need Vol 3 so I would have passed too. $40 shipping is pretty good for those 3 behemoth boxes.
  2. Just the shipping? Jeez !
  3. Surprisingly successful - I have it on the Mosaic.
  4. Good to hear - and best of luck with the move and replenishments.
  5. Total bargain ! To Europe, the shipping, tax and insurance would probably cost more than the asking price. Even so..
  6. An authority on early jazz, especially New Orleans and Ragtime. His concerts were hugely entertaining and immaculately performed. The ‘Midnight Follies Orchestra’ and the ‘Blue Devils Orchestra’ were two prominent ones - the latter band I saw quite a few times and was much impressed with - arguably the best band of its type in Europe.
  7. Some of these idiots think the world revolves around them and that they can get a jab and then head off on holiday to Spain etc. Makes me sick ! Fortunately, most people are being patient.
  8. Pretty sure I saw him with ‘Brass Project’. Certainly also saw him with Kenny Wheeler’s Big Band, Gil Evans UK Orchestra and Don Weller I think. Oh - and Stan Tracey’s Orchestra too. Never saw him with Westbrook though. Keith Nichols a major loss as well, in the more traditional era of jazz. Excellent band leader and pianist/arranger.
  9. Just read the awful news on London Jazz News that both trombonist Malcolm Griffiths and pianist/arranger/bandleader Keith Nichols had both passed away (Nichols apparently due to covid). Good memories of stellar performances from both these fine gents over the years. Truly sad news, may they RIP.
  10. I think I saw that film at one of the London Scala cinemas back in the day, in the era when they used to do ‘Jazz Film Seasons’ with 2-3 films in one sitting. Rhapsody Films figured quite strongly. I think it might have been on with that Bill Dixon film.
  11. Relatives of mine have already had the jab (in one case, both) and once I get the call, I will be in there. 400,000 vaccinated in this country yesterday, so things are moving.
  12. This ‘redux’ 2LP version by Get Back is in good sound.
  13. The interviews with Jackie and Michael Cuscuna were the only reason to watch the last couple of episodes.
  14. If only ‘Mutti’ had given a bone or two to ‘Call Me Dave’..
  15. No doubt Carrie and the dog were happy to get him out of the house for a day..
  16. Please update us once you have got the gen from Jorge - thanks. Fall-back for Mosaics I guess would be from HQ - as per the past. Not many boxes coming out these days so not a showstopper.
  17. More business for Honest Jons then !
  18. Interesting - good to hear that you aren’t affected. River level and flow rate near my place today (piddling little puddle) was ‘robust’.
  19. Are the floods local to yourself?
  20. Any sign today of masked Boris in the RAF helicopter flying around and inspecting your neck of the woods, Bill?
  21. I guess once the powers that be in our various countries have all started introducing e-business taxes to help pay for the Covid costs, these charges will be even more astronomical.
  22. I guess you can blame the combination of Royal Mail and the US Postal Service for that. Royal Mail have recently applied some very big increases, including domestic Mail. Among other things, they have a big pension deficit of their people to bail out, not to mention massively dwindling business base from their ‘traditional’ letters and parcels business due to the likes of Amazon.
  23. Totally agree, Roger. That Barbara Thompson box is definitely on my radar - just starting to read her autobiography. With the forthcoming new ‘Jazz In Britain’ releases, this is an unexpected cornucopia in challenging times.
  24. I have a copy of the King too but have yet to do a thorough cross-check. The top and bottom end of the sonics seem to be better on the TP.
