  1. Baybridge Japanese reissue.
  2. Somehow I got the pair of them. Not sure how I managed that !
  3. Those 2 VeeJay Mosaics disappeared pretty abruptly as I recall, might have been on that infamous ‘Black Friday’.
  4. Thanks - I thought I heard a mention that this one had a recent interview with Mr Ratip but I guess not.
  5. That is a great album. Difficult to find in its original release ! Any extras with the reissue (such as new sleeve notes?)
  6. Vertigo swirl. Not bad for £10 !
  7. Esquire LP version here - again in mono.
  8. It’s worth getting. I picked up a good condition copy at Jazz House Records in Leicester. Not cheap - short and sweet !
  9. Tracks from this ‘new’ one, taken from the late Jon Hiseman’s archive -
  10. I think it also had some bonus tracks - need to check.
  11. Very good CD reissue of it back in the day on Verve Elite.
  12. Sad to hear this. I think I went just the once, to the Broadway and 105th St location. Candid were recording Hilton Ruiz and his group that night. Nice grilled salmon, as I recall !
  13. Ah well... There are not too many versions of ‘Minority’ and I’d heard that one somewhere but don’t have it. Nice BFT !
  14. 1. Don Wilkerson? 2. Sounds like an early 80s style band but otherwise, not a clue ! 5. Art Pepper with Milcho Leviev trio at Ronnie’s? 6. Gigi Gryce’s tune ‘Minority’ played by Bootsie Barnes’ Quartet. 7. Vi Redd? 8. More gloop on the bass than Ms Paltrow 9. Sort of jazz messenger-ish but not Blakey 10. ‘Willow Weep For Me’ - Fathead Newman? 11. ‘Blue Bossa’ - is that Archie Shepp? 12. ‘Willow Weep For Me’ - Zoot Sims at the Left Bank Jazz Society, perhaps? 13. ‘Solar’ - possibly Sal Nistico with Sam Noto? 14. Chet Baker ‘scoring’ from Ben Webster ?
  15. I’m sorry to hear this very sad news. He was a long standing board member I believe - RIP.
  16. Yes - this is a good and under-rated Mosaic Select. I was a big fan of this band, bought all the vinyl/CDs back in the day and saw them live (it was free !! ) Stage-front listening position, my ears took a major pounding from Mr Williams’ bass pedal..
  17. Back to the 80s!
  18. Ditto. That must have been when I saw them at Ronnie Scott’s - or maybe it was in 1981. Anyway, they definitely played ‘Don’t Lose Control’ with the Adams vocal and I have a strong recollection that they did ‘Newcomer’ too. Certainly, there was at least one track from Mingus Moves. The ‘Don’t Lose Control’ album was quite popular over here too - at least as relative to other jazz releases. At that time I saw the Adams/Pullen Band and an early Mingus Dynasty group in quick succession and it was a pleasure seeing Dannie Richmond roll up behind the drum kit.
