  1. More good stuff from the Black Forest..
  2. Not sure what is going on at RTI but too many clicks and pops on their offerings of late.
  3. Yeah - mines got the Dusty credit too. Picked up in London (Rays) when it appeared for sale for a millisecond. I like those Dusty/Prestige reissue obscurities - they did the George Braith ‘Musart’ too.
  4. Sorry to hear that - they seem to be having QC problems with RTI at the moment. Discogs already has reports of problems with this one - duplicate LPs. They are very helpful on replacements so you should hopefully be fine. Mine will be with me next week so hopefully I don’t get a dud. Was able to source the Bill Evans locally so hope to collect that one by hand tomorrow. Result !
  5. More miles on that one than an Inter-Rail student.
  6. I’ve capitulated ! Looking forward to hearing this new Rollins release on LP. Hope you were successful !
  7. Now in stock at HJ’s !
  8. Meanwhile - over the Pond - this one is conspicuous by its absence.
  9. Did those guys ever issue any releases by Houston Person?
  10. Venus strikes again.. Was that company a brothel doubling as a jazz record label?
  11. That’s quite an interesting list. My first reaction is that few of these would likely have been available here at the time, other than as expensive US imports at a couple of specialist shops nationwide. Obscurities to this day ! A few of the comments really stand out. The sad passing of several artists (William Henderson included - wasn’t aware of that, RIP) as he was writing the notes. The over-loud bass on many of the sessions, which ruined more than a few. And Houston Person’s predilection for Playboyesque covers, which over the years has meant that I might have mentally discounted what were likely some very good records !
  12. What a gem ! Never issued during Rosolino’s lifetime - great band with Harold Land and Victor Feldman, Axelrod production.
  13. Thanks - that’s too bad.
  14. I always think of that one as an incredibly unlikely gig/venue - bit of a miracle really. The 2CD reissue is very good.
  15. Yep - a while since I last played this one. One of Cables’ best I think. An inspired trio performance.
  16. Over here as we are currently in lockdown it is internet only on the day (6pm). Not that many outlets seem to be doing the Rollins - Unlike the Bill Evans. £70 is pretty rich so will consider the CD. The Evans is more tempting on LP.
  17. But almost pastoral in parts too, the other extreme. Quite a recording !
  18. Copy no. 2 arrived with a trace at the end of the first side - fortunately it doesn’t click so I’ll live with it. Whatever happened to quality control and care in US vinyl plants?
  19. ‘The Artful Dodger’ on Concord is worth checking out. Includes a snippet of him soloing on drums as ‘Kid Krupa’ with Glenn Miller’s AAFB during WW2 as a very young prodigy ! Update on the Riverside. Marked T/P on the inner so test pressing it is I guess.
  20. Like George Best, a total disaster off the patch as well as a genius on it. RIP though.
  21. UK Riverside, mono. White label hand-marked ‘stock copy’. Critic’s copy?
