  1. Thanks to everybody. I'll discuss it with my doctor tomorrow.
  2. really sad. R.I.P.
  3. All together now... "Gonna find my baby, gonna hold her tight gonna grab some afternoon delight. ... Me - I was listening to 'Agharta' at the time I was listening to Weather Report I was listening to Pink Floyd and Deep Purple.
  4. Japs!!!
  5. Good move. This incident will get me being super-careful when I lift and drop the arm onto the deck. No cueing device, so it can be very 'hit and miss'. That was the problem: I trusted the cueing lever, that for unknown reason was down. (actually the reason is probably that I didn't place the lever at the very end when I lifted the tonearm, so the weight of the cartridge moved it down.) When I had the Linn, no cueing on tonearm, therefore I was super-careful.
  6. No idea, but the biggest problem with cartridges is that they can really ruin records. So I guess that I can easily replace a worn or damaged cartridge, or make it fixed, but I can't replace my record collection.
  7. Look at it in the grand scheme of things. It's not like you chose Sarah Palin for your running mate. And, yeah, have a mono LP fest!!! Thanks, I'll follow your wise suggestion. Now spinning: Larry Young - Unity - BN, NY mono.
  8. Yeah, I've got cds and I could even play my mono records with the mono cartridge, but at the moment I am so angry with myself that I'd throw the whole stuff throw the window.
  9. Thanks. No, it was laying the tonearm on Sun Ra's Strange Strings. For some unknown reason the tonearm's lift wasn't up, so instead of putting it ABOVE the record, I move it against the record and the cantilever hitted the outer edge of the record. I guess I damaged the suspension of the cantilever. Now the stylus is totally off centered.. What bother me is that the cartridge has far less then 1000 hours, basically new!!!
  10.  Damn stupid, (feel free to add insults), I just fold the cantilever of my japanese cartridge! Now I have to unmount, pack and ship it to TOKYO!! And wait probably a couple of months for it (I don't want even think at the outrageous bill I'll have to pay). I am such a .... (add your preferred epithet)!!!
  11. About thin vinyl, I usually don't think that a thick one is always better. My RCAs of Lou Reed sound great, even if they are on the infamous Dynaflex! I had the original early U.S. ATCO pressing of 'Layla' (Derek and The Dominos), thicker vinyl then a Polydor U.K. later reissue, but the reissue blows away the ATCO, that I sold.
  12. My copy is a WLP Columbia PG 33967 C 33968, thick cover, 'made in U.S.' on cover and labels, label design is the common post 1970, a thin Columbia vinyl. Nothing different from the Dylan's of the same period I have. Goldmine report it as a 1976 issue.
  13. It makes sense. Older CDRs suffered from 'errors' at high speed, modern ones are pretty comfortable with high speed.
  14. Dude, get that f*****g 'Blonde on Blonde' and stop complaining!
  15. Nice, don't know about issue's dates, I got a U.S. Columbia white label promo, I'll spin it after J. J. Johnson.

  17. Where I was born, near Genova, we use to cook meat (or fish) on a hot slate, with wood's fire. It's called 'carne in sa ciappa' in genoan dialect. Another famous grilled meat is the 'fiorentina': a huge beef steek from 'chianina', a breed of cow original of Tuscany. In Roma the most common grilled meat is 'abbacchio': baby lambs butchered before they left breastfeeding. I am sure Catesta knows them very well.
  18. I have to go for laser surgery for a retina problem. So I am asking myself if going for a laser treatment of myopia. Have you got any experience?
  19. Ludwig Van Beethoven - Symphony 1/2 - Karajan/Berliner, DG stereo.
  20. Jackie McLean - New And Old Gospel - BN stereo, black and blue label.
  21. Wow Chris, lots of great stuff. Thanks again for sharing. BTW I can't imagine where I could store all these stuff. Kudos to your skill as archivist.
  22. J. J. Johnson Mosaic
  23. Funny, oil price was almost 150 per barrel in mid august, now is around 100, but I can't see any difference at gasoline stations. Something is rotten in the state of Denmark, and over here too.
  24. Yep, and you'd be surprised how good that druidic technology could sound in today's amps .
