It was the Jazz Bible over here back then, the first Jazz Book I had, lost it somewhere in my many movings. There are other excellent books of an italian critic, and photographer, about the history of jazz, never translated ASIK, Gian Carlo Roncaglia.

I was a completist since I started to listen to music, as I was with books, but I understood later on that owning is different then knowing so I realized I will never know everything, no man can’t, so I gave up my completist habit and focused myself on the pure pleasure of listening. In my collection there are some holes but I am fine with them.

My dad loved classical music, Mozart and Rossini above all. He despised jazz, brothel music for him, I couldn’t influence his opinion about it. I still play his LPs I inherited when he passed. edit: he played bandoneon in his youth he retained a sweet spot for Italian folk music though he usually didn’t listen to it as far I remember.

Overall, considering the last 45 years, since I inherited my dad's hifi when my parents splitted, I've had 4 turntables, 6 couples of speakers, 3 cd players, 4 integrated amps, 2 power amp, 3 preamps, 4 phono amps, plus several cartridges, it was fun anyway. edit: and a couple of cassette recorders, forgot them edit 2: forgot a couple of components I had for a short time
