  1. DIX HILLS, N.Y. (AP) In a quiet, tree-lined suburb of New York City sits an unassuming brick ranch house that many musicians consider hallowed ground. This is where saxophonist John Coltrane composed the epic 1964 jazz masterpiece "A Love Supreme," shortly after moving into the Dix Hills, Long Island, home. Although he only lived there three years Coltrane died of cancer in 1967 at age 40 musicians including Carlos Santana and Coltrane's jazz saxophonist son Ravi are among those backing a volunteer effort to turn the dilapidated, four-bedroom house into a museum and learning center. http://news.yahoo.com/fans-hope-john-coltrane-home-become-ny-museum-142721149.html

  9. Happy Birthday, Guy.
  10. Shehad a nice voice. RIP Gloria.
  11. I have a few that I just can't seem to get into but so many others, including many here really enjoy. 1. Wayne Shorter. He is a find musician, but I don't really dig his music. I tried. I even caught his 80th birthday show at Lincoln Center, but I left wanted more. 2. Oscar Peterson. He plays too many notes for my ears. I know he's played with just about every legendary jazz musician, but I don't care for his style. Anyone else have any musicians that are highly esteemed in the eyes on many but you don't understand why?
  12. I realized that most of the time when I am listening to music at home I do it with my eyes shut. I guess turning off one sense adds to my ears. Does anyone else find themselves listeninf with your eyes closed?
  13. I second the Happy Birthday to Jimmy Heath.

  16. Thanks. I didn't know this.
  17. Sounds like an Oxymoron, but is there such an animal? I was for some reason scanning AM stations in my car and one you are listening to WXXX in stereo on the AM dial. I thought AM was just mono?
