  1. I’m guessing this photo is from the late 1950’s. I think it’s just a fan others in the Facebook page believe she is a film star.
  2. RIP
  3. Ah, that’s what he’s playing.
  4. Yes it is. He had hair!!!
  5. One of the best Any guesses?
  6. I have two CD's of Trumbauer's music. Chronological Classics 1927 - 1928 and 1936 - 1946. Any other CD's out there that others here know or have? I want to pick up another one.
  7. Great story.
  8. This is a channel that just broadcasts jazz, soul, blues and African music. The advertisement I saw this channel streams what appears to be live concerts. Anyone here a subscriber to this station? https://svod.qwest.tv/f/free-trial?utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=LP-conversions&utm_campaign=conversions1
  9. He plays those two clubs in August for the past four years. It is referred to as “the Kirk Lightsey Week.”
  10. He will be in NYC at Smalls Aug 7-8, and Mezzrow Aug 9-10.
  11. Miles with Wynton. I would love to know what Miles was thinking.
  12. I’ve also learnt to have a mirror copy of the music. I lost one drive.
  13. Quite often I run across concerts fir each year of the NorthSea jazz festival that we’re recorded for radio. This leads me to deduct that all of these concerts are recorded and exist in some vault. This gives me hope that there’s some unheard Mobley waiting in the wings. Anyone here ever heard this Hank Mobley concert
  14. A long time. I haven’t listen to it all. When I retire I will make it a priority.
  15. What a sad sad story.
  16. Does anyone know if this was ever issued in any format? SUMMARY One in this jazz music series that features American musicians of the 1950s, performing live at the New York City jazz club Birdland. For the first set of this program hosted by William B. Williams, Roy "Little Jazz" Eldridge performs with his all-star jazz group. 17. March 5th, 1955. Birdland. A week later he would be gone.
  18. Well, what I posted up top is what is on display at the jazz museum of Harlem. This is what Dean used to record Charlie Parker when he came to New York Following Bird.
  19. This is the disc cutter that Dean Benedetti lugged around in New York when he recorded Bird on 52nd street. This unit is so cumbersome to carry around, it makes me appreciate even more his effort in recording Charlie Parker.
  20. Give the guy a cigar. It was JR Monterose.
  21. It may just be a fan. Someone thinks it is Peter Sellers. Any other guesses?
