  3. I can see it now. G-iant Steps. Kenny G Plays the Music of John Coltrane. Wow, he't trying to sound like Coltrane.
  4. Here is one that is just too good to pass up. avoid this at all costs.
  5. I knew he had surgery but didn't know he needed to learn to play all over again. That explains his style change. It could be either.
  6. Last week I saw Pat Martino live. Then next day I pulled out my Pat Martino recordings. Pat's style of playing changed so much from the 60s to today. In fact if you didn't know it was Martino you would believe it was two different guitar players. Those that listen to Martino, due you agree that his playing style is so different today then it was in his early career? Can anyone think of any other musicians that their styles changed dramatically?
  7. Last week I saw Pat Matino play in New York. I really like the sound from his solid body guitar. I didn't get a change to ask what he was playing. When the set was done, Pat walked off to the back with his guitar. Anyone here know what he plays?
  8. The Village Vanguard is also streaming, but not every night. I was able to watch the Heath Brothers one night Mark Turner on another. So true. More and more rock acts are playing there. Last night it was Vinnie Moore, the heavy medal guitarist.
  9. Did anyone catch any of the sets?

    Bugalu

The show was wonderful, but it was in a club that also has pool tables and the crowd was a bit loud.
  11. It is truly sad indeed. But then he had a fruitful life. Thanks Frank for all the music. Time to rejoin the Basie band and take your solo.

    Bugalu

Last night I went to the George Braith Quartet. His drummer was someone called Bugalu. Who is this drummer Bugalu? I took some photos. None came out great. Also, what do you call this sax? It was two made into one.
  14. Man, close this thread. I never in a million years thought it would end up like this. This thread was my observation on Peterson's playing.
  15. Sad, but not surprising.
  16. I don't recall the discussion when he passed. I differently don't to start a war. It was just my own personal observation of his playing while playing some CDS today.
  17. Oscar Peterson has recorded and played with just about ever jazz legend, so there's no questioning his greatness, but I sometime don't get what he's playing.
  18. True, but for my ear, I like spacing. To me spacing gives it more of a voice than just constant runs up and down the keyboard.
  19. RIP.
  20. I was listening to some Pablo records today, mainly ones with Oscar Peterson. To me he plays too many notes and doesn't leave any sections of silences which to me can say more than playing so many notes. Anyone else ever take note of this when he's playing?
  21. Have a great day.
  22. I've added Jimmy Heath to my autographs. I asked him to sign his autobiography.
