  1. I have that recording. It is solid and you probably will not be disappointed. But if you only purchased it because of Lou Donaldson, IIRC Donaldson does not appear on all the tracks. Hi Ron, it did arrive and I do enjoy the whole CD, even the tracks without LD.
  2. I basically collect any session Lou Donaldson plays on. I found a new one by guitarist Ximo Tebar that I don't have and ordered it. It is called "Ximo Tebar Goes Blue". Anyone have comments on his playing or on this album?
  3. I was shopping at J&R today. RVG's were on sale there for $6.99. Not sure if this applies to on line sales.
  4. I found what I was looking for at worldsrecords.com.
  5. I want to order 2 records on Lonehill Jazz. I've only come across 3 sites, but they are in Japanese. Any English sites where I could order from them?
  6. I went food shopping tonight. I wanted some broccoli, and I come across broccoflower. Someone’s gone and crossed broccoli and cauliflower. What will be next? Are these genetically altered veggies? Here's a photo. It looks like something that should be in a salt water reef tank.
  7. The band George Shearing- Piano, Neil Swainson- Bass, Donny Osborne- Drums, Mel Tormé Vocals.
  8. I found the information. It was at the jazzfest berlin on Nov 2, 1989. It was broadcast on radio and not on any record. Thanks.
  9. I heard a recording of George Shearing live in Berlin from 1989. Anyone know the title of this session? I really liked it. It is with vocals drums and bass. Here are the tracks. Start all over again. Unknown Title. Lullaby of Birdland. Donna Lee. The Way You Look Tonight. Since I fell for You. All God Children. Love is just the corner.
  10. If you drag it down low and then throw it, it should make it out the window.
  11. I did 91 meters. Paper plane
  12. This looks like the show to catch the summer. Anyone planning on going to any of the sets?
  13. That would be me. Enjoy it.
  14. The gig was real nice. Kenny played his ass off.
  15. I went to see Kenny Barron at the Jazz Standard. Kenny loves the sauce. He drank 3 brandies before the show in a bar around the block. The brandy was in large a glass, the kind that looks like a fish bowl. Well, it didn't affect his playing. I stood next to him at the bar and just said hello and that I was going to his gig tonight. He smiled and rasied the glass, then down it went.
  16. Man landed on the moon. Who here remembers that day? I remember watching it on TV, and right away I was wondering why there weren't any stars. I was 6 at that time.
  17. Anyone know of a good web site to look up artists? I have 3 paintings by an early 20th Century artists that I am trying to learn more about. These painting were once owned by my gradparants. My grandparents were from Germany. They must have brought the paintings with them when they came to America. The artist name is H. Schmid. I've done searching and came up with a Hans Schmid. Born 1906 in Switzerland. Nothing else have I come across on him.
  18. Happy Birthday Henry(Hank). Thanks for all the music. Wow, 77! If only he lived to 77. Tragic loss to jazz.
  19. Mr. Shank was going to play the Iridium Jazz Club in July. The shows are no longer listed on the web site. Anyone know why the were canceled?
  20. I will be okay. The laid off 20% of the work force. The CEO's bonus wasn't as good as it was last year. They needed to get some money to up his bonus. It was just 103 million this year. Last year 140 million. More corporate greed. The way America works these days.
  21. The thing is, it isn't 19 years with the same company. I will begin the hunt.
  22. I have been working 19 years since finishing college. I have never been without a job, not even for a day. Today I was told my position wasn't needed anyore. I feel so sick. I have a family a homeWhat do I do?
  23. I stumbled across a CD in my collection by Chico Hamilton . He has Buddy Collette playing on it. I really started to dig his sound. Any other suggestions of recordings by him or with him?
  24. Hapy Birthday Mr. Green. Gone too early.
  25. I have to admit I’ve bought a few compilations CD only because there were 1 or 2 tracks I couldn’t find anywhere else. Kevin, you've sold me on the importance of compilations for jazz labels. It helps to pay the bills. I can't fault them for that. It must be my naivete, thinking everybody else buys jazz like myself and those here. Those number must be about 3 to 5 % of the music sales in the states, and maybe a bit higher in Europe. Hardly enough to run a record label.
