  1. I will put it on my schedule.
  2. We should somehow get him to join this board. We all pretend to love his music.
  3. It makes all my problems seem real small when you see this. May God help them.
  4. What was your first Mosaic? For me it was the Larry Young set. How many set have you gotten rid of for one reason or another? I have all of mine.
  5. up! And hoping.
  6. Well, here's an 1 day early happy birthday.
  7. Just wondering if any members havet deleted any of their topics. If so why?
  8. I'll wait for the mating season before I'd go. New exhibit at London Zoo - humans Thu Aug 25, 1:42 PM ET LONDON (AFP) - London Zoo unveiled a new exhibition -- eight humans prowling around wearing little more than fig leaves to cover their modesty. The "Human Zoo" is intended to show the basic nature of human beings as they frolick throughout the August bank holiday weekend. "We have set up this exhibit to highlight the spread of man as a plague species and to communicate the importance of man's place in the planet's ecosystem," London Zoo said. The scantily-clad volunteers will be treated as animals and kept amused at the central London zoo with games and music. "I actually think the fig leaves will be enough to cover us up, it's no worse than a swimming pool," said volunteer Simon Spiro, 19, from New Malden, south of the British capital. Spiro, selected from dozens of hopefuls in an Internet competition, said he was excited by the prospect of monkeying around on the zoo's Bear Mountain. "I'm a veterinary student so the idea of working for a zoo was something that appealed to me. "I thought it would be fun and interesting because I'm an outdoorsy kind of person," he said. Brendan Carr, 25, from Aylesbury, southern England, wrote a poem in his bid to get on the mountain. "I'm funky like a monkey and as cool as a cat, talk more than a parrot, up all night like a bat," it went. "I got a laugh like a hyena but get the hump like a camel, so cover me in fig leaves as I'm the ultimate mammal."
  9. I often wonder why we don't see more talk here on jazz vocals. I can get into vocals. When I was a musician, a lot of times when I was trying to learn a new standard, I would track down a vocal version of it. For some reason that helped me to remember the changes better. I can dig groups like Lambert Hendrick and Ross, as well as Billie Holiday. Why it seems we don't like vocals here is beyond me. I've gotten that feeling too.
  10. Now what about those recent discovered alternative takes? Will we get a disc in the mail? I have the complete 8 CD set of The Classic Quartet: Complete Impulse! Studio Recordings, thses new recording will not make the set complete anymore.
  11. HAve at least another 72 Wayne. Happy B-Day.
  12. It has to exist somewhere. The search is part of the fun of having it. I will still do my hunting.
  13. You know, every time we post a Kenny G photo on this board, it equates to a toxic spill. It takes weeks to clean it up, and who knows its long term effect on the board members. We might end up with a rare form of cancer of the senses.
  14. Ever since Jimmy Smith past I've been searching for the film James O. Smith the organist. I have yet to loacte it anywhere. Has anyone here come across it? J.O.S.
  15. NY, it is $2.88.9 a gallon for regular this morning.
  16. I forgot about Swiss Movement. I believe "compared to what" did make it on to the pop charts.
  17. Mike, I said best selling jazz album. I didn't want to include other styles of music. As far as defining jazz, mostly what we discuss here I would have to say.
  18. Any guesses to what would have been the best jazz selling album for these lables? I just selected 11 lables. My guesses for some are below. Not sure for all. But I would say coltrane has 3. 1. Savoy- (I would say something by Charlie Parker) 2. Prestige- ? 3. Riverside- ? 4. Argo- But Not for Me 5. Milestones- ? 6. Blue Note- Blue Train 7. Pablo- ? 8. Impulse- Love Supreme 9. Columbia- Time out or 'Round about Midnight 10. Atlantic- Giant Steps 11. Verve- (I would say something by Charlie Parker)
  19. I went back into Boarders and asked the clerk why has the jazz and classical sections have deminished so much. He told me the Boarder's headquarters had them cut it back, since no one real is buy jazz and classical music. That sucks to hear that it's a money issue with the corporate office. Yeah I know, it's just business, but will this pour over to their internet site? Will they cut back even there? Sure there are many other web site I can go to buy my jazz. Just hope it doesn't become pandemic across other sources where we get our music.
  20. I called the number back from my cell 270 304 1331. The guy answered.

  22. How desperate can they be? In April 2004, the company I had been working with for a number of years announced they were moving their headquarters to another part of the country. The move would be final in February 2006. Everyone was given the opportunity to move with the company. I knew I didn’t want to go with them. This meant looking for a new job. I had about 22 months to find a new gig. Plus I was one year shy of being fully vested. I decided to wait till I was vested. But I got myself ready. I posted my resume on every jobs site on the internet. You name it, I posted my resume there. I landed a new job at the end on June of this year. I’ve started, am I am very content. Tonight when I came home, the phone rang. I have caller ID and saw who was calling. It said US Army recruiting. I answer and said hello, and the fellow on the other end asks to speak with me. I said you’re speaking with him. He tells he is Sergeant %*@^$ , I don't remember his name. He said he came across my resume on dice.com and wants to speak to me about a career in the US Army. I thought this had to be a joke someone is playing on me, but there was that caller ID. He tells me I noticed your resume on dice for over a year, it was constantly being updated. He tells me I think I have the career path for you. I tell him I tell him I landed a job. Plus why would I want to join the Army? I’m in my 40’s. I just told him, sorry, not interested and hung up the phone. Do they do this now, teller market? I should have told him I was on the do not call list. I thought this was so funny, I had to post it here. Unless I've been duped and don't know it, the military is trying real hard to make their numbers.
  23. Wow, it was all a sham.
  24. I've tried in my PC and it crashed. It locked up the screen and I had to power it off and on just to get the disc out of the drive.
  25. My copy of Pete La Roca Basra has become the first CD of mine to stop playing. When I hold it up to a light, there must be a few hundred tiny holes. I can't recall when I bought it. I believe it had to be the mid 1990's. Has anyone ever had a CD dies yet? Second, has this be issued since the first re-issued?
