it's in the LPR series: what once was is what you get. So no restoration of solos or other missing pieces of the puzzle. Drat. Excuse my French, by why the fuck release this on CD, if you're not going to restore the edited solos??? I mean, that's the only way a release like this has any serious merit (or at least as much merit it's capable of). I sure the thing would sell better if people had the chance to hear more solos from Gilmore. But released with all those edits, I'm sure I'm just as likely to take a pass at it, as I would buy it. Release it in it's full form, and I'm seriously WAY MORE interested in hearing this thing. WTF are they thinking???? I bought this not knowing they edited the solos. Would have like to have the full monty.

I was the spelling bee champ in 75'. Thing was, only 2 other students in the contest.

He was a great player. Miss him, Live in NJ, my firend would go down and jam with him back in the mid 90's. He had stopped playing for a while. He told my friend he didn't anyone listened to him anymore.

I had an Internet radio station on today and heard a Lou Armstrong number. Towards the end of the tune, in his solo, he basically plays the theme, which Dizzy would write years later, and we come to know as Salt Peanuts. I wish I had found out what tune Armstrong played. Would any here know what tune I am referring to? I pretty sure Dizzy was listening to this and thought, "hum," and wrote salt peanuts right after this. Armstrong was playing bop and didn't even know it.

Anyone have this? Saw it yesterday. Most likely going to pick it up today. Is it any good?

I have the RVG of this session. Yesterday, I was browsing through the jazz session at Boarders and was looking at this CD and notice it had a different track selection. My copy has "Alison's Uncle" and the copy at boarders had a different 6th track. I don't remember the name, only that it was a Hank Jone's tune. Why the change?

How does one keep up with all the new technologies that is constantly thrown our way? Is there one unit that will support all the formats, SCCD, MP3 XDCD and the rest?

Has this session ever been re-issued? I heard 2 tracks off of it yesterday while driving and what a great recording it was.
