The musicians in his band are all on the Criss Cross label. At least the CD's I have by them are on that label. Kiyoshi Kitagawa and Blake have been with Kenny now for a several years.
Johnathan Blake's release from 4 years ago is real fine. I included one track on my blindfold test.
Michael Rodriguez's Reverence is also a nice one.
Dayna Stephens' Reminiscent is very good too. Dayna is a real good young tenor player.
I saw this exact band play most of this live Saturday at the Jazz Standard. Kenny brought 30 copies and he sold them all before I could acquire a copy. In a way that was good. At the club it was 20 dollars and 11 dollars on Amazon.
Today on WKCR,the out to lunch program is devoted to Herman Chittison. There's not much music from him as a leader. Does anyone here have suggestions of some sessions he's playing on that are something you like?
