  1. This just in from the San Francisco Giants Ministry Of Propaganda: It's the heat..... In that case, it's been hot all year for Lincecum. Personally, I think he just got lazy after getting that huge contract; ala Zito. The other thing is I think his ego [and a heavy dose of Zito] caused his attitude towards the game to fade into a haze of marijuana smoke. He needs to pull it together or end up in someplace like Seattle, er...no, wait. That's it!
  2. Yesterday, Lincecum got shelled....again. Today, Bumgarner got lit up. What in the hell is going on here? Grrrrr
  3. Back atcha, Chris....I'm in the same boat as you. BTW, I love that avatar; one of my all-time favorite albums. This is almost as cool as The Complete Far Side! Yup!
  4. He's going to need those legs to drive the ball. Ow. It hurts just thinking about it. I wonder if Mattingly is OK with it.
  5. I saw that Matt Kemp is listed in the All-Star HR derby. Is he off the IR now?
  6. Hm. TBH, I never saw that film as anything less than a Hitchcock cliffhanger. Great movie, though.
  7. Matlock! Very sad to see Andy Griffith leave us. Rest in Peace, Andy.
  8. The Frisco Kid Support Your Local Sheriff Robinhood: Men in Tights Any of the Wallace and Gromit claymations.
  9. The Magic Christian is another movie, in spite of the stellar cast, I thought was very unfunny.
  10. Animal House!
  11. Yer killin' me, Matthew.
  12. We both saw Bobby Bonds and Jim Kaat in our first day of in person attendance. 5-10-1980 Dodgers vs. Cardinals. Mom hated baseball, dad wasn't from the US, so I got a late start! Thankfully, I maried a woman who loves baseball [a former softball 2B] just like me. In fact, on our honeymoon to San Francisco, we went to an A's game [the Giants were dark] which happened to be a double-header [back when that actually meant you go to see two games for the price of one]. The first game went into extra innings. Then so did the second game! I was in hog heaven! Butcha know what? My wife never complained and enjoyed the games right along with me. That's when I knew I had the real thing [been married 29 years now] and we still go to/watch Giants games
  13. Sorry, Guys. Spinal Tap was a crushing bore for me. Call me spoiled.
  14. Airplane! Incredibly funny movie, Noj Speaking of Leslie Nielson...Naked Gun [though OJ is in it] is also hilarious, IMHO. I'd add: My Fellow Americans [Jack Lemon, James Garner and Dan Ackryod] What Women Want [Mrs. GoodSpeak's choice] Odd Couple
  15. Hey! Four Giants got named to the All-Star Game...three of whom are starters Melky Cabrerra OF Pablo Sandoval 3B Buster Posey C Good point. Musta missed that one. Paul must be WAY old
  16. I got all y'all beat. My first MLB game was an Angels game in 1962 at Dodger Stadium. I was seven. My first Giants game was in 1965; Gaylord Perry vs. Don Drysdale [i think] at Candelstick Park when center field was open with a view of Hunter's Point. Giants won, as I recall, 1-0.
  17. Agreed on Young Frankenstein. Puttin' on the Ritz is priceless. I laugh out loud every time I watch that scene. I also like the bit with Gene Hackman as the blind guy; especially when the monster rolls his eyes. As long as we're in Mel Brooks mode: High Anxiety. Great Hitchcock spoof.
  18. Spinal Tap is the one for me...ugh.
  19. Young Frankenstein Monty Python and the Holy Grail Madagascar [do animations count?] All of the Peter Sellers Pink Panther variations
  20. Your fog is thanks to the heat generated in my little land o' enchantment. Getting more humid, too. Ugh. Trade ya
  21. I don't know if this has been covered, but my CD/LP/Cassette collection has become an unmanageable ameoba [moving very slowly, consuming everything in its path]...well, OK, I've just been too lazy to put stuff back into any kind of reasonable order. As a result, I have titles by artists I completely forgot I owned....even a couple duplicates. Today's find: Eastern Sounds by Yusef Lateef. A few days ago I found Rejuvenation by Lonnie Liston Smith. I had forgotten how good that album is. Any of you guys experience this phenomenon? If so, what artists have you re-discovered?
  22. Listening to No Room for Squares even as I type.
  23. Only if reporting an allegation of sexual misconduct with a minor can be considered morally reprehensible. Is not the whole purpose of a "Mandated Reporter" is that you are to report to the police, not to your supervisor alone? That's always been my understanding, and I've always told my employees that also -- that it is not me who makes the determination whether you report or not to the police, that the person is required by law to file a report themselves. I could be wrong.... Not if you want an air-tight case for conviction. The mandated reporter must go through the proper channels. This way the molester's defense attorney can't wriggle out from under the charge by claiming some sort breach of the law and get his client off on a technicality. It also protects the rights of the child by creating a paper trail used by the prosecution to file charges against the attacker and/or protect the victim from retaliation. Procedures must be followed to the letter or the guy could walk away free or worse, the victim continues to be molested or even beaten for ratting the bastard out. It also protects the mandated reporter from retaliation. Forensics and criminal procedures follow the very same protocol. The more checks and balances and investigative reporting you have the easier it is to convict. Otherwise, it's just your word against the attacker's. After all, the goal is to put the criminal behind bars. True? Note: For those who think this is giving Joe Paterno a free pass, they apparently do not understand how the law of the land must be satisfied in order to convict the real criminal. Curley, Schultz, et al didn't follow through, they violated the law and enabled that dirtball to continue molesting kids.
  24. And he's a knuckelballer. Fairly rare these days, I think. I'm just glad my guys were able to get past the Mets when they played back in April.
