  1. Luckily for Peyton when the Saints play in Denver there will be a lot of eyes on the defense. I doubt they'll be allowed to even rush the QB. While there are risks it's a relatively easy division. Not all teams that make (not necessarily win the Super Bowl) look like the result of long-term grand plans anyway. To some degree perhaps the model is like the AZ Cardinals a few years ago, only with a better defense. 9-7 might be good enough to win the division and get in, after that it's the crapshoot of the playoffs. A very good defense and future HOF QB (hmm, also smells a little like the Vikes w/ Farve, minus the great RB) and having a "regular" QB as backup just in case seems like a safer plan to me. True. But remnember: The Raiders play in the same division as the Broncos. Their specialty is big hits...especially on QBs they hate. The so-called Black Hole will not be a pretty place for Manning.
  2. I'd like to "weigh in" on Pat Robertson. Possibly either by dropping a boulder on him...or maybe parking a truck on his head. So....I guess this means the Broncos will burn in hell.
  3. Sounds like California weather
  4. Exactly. Denver is not going to win a championship with Manning; they just don't have the offense. By the time the Broncos develop an offense (if they can; this whole thing gives me doubts about their ability to accomplish anything with the current team in charge), Manning will be out of the game. As far as Tebow goes, I am NOT a Tebow fan. However, I think it's quite possible that he could develop into a decent quarterback IF he is put in the right situation. New York is NEVER the right situation for such things; Denver could have been with a little patience. If Elway dumped Tebow because he was sick of dealing with the fans, fine, but let's admit that he did it for his own comfort, not to help the team. If he felt that Tebow would never develop, then I can understand getting rid of him, but the signing Manning for a team like this makes no sense, either from the team's standpoint or Manning's. I guess what I'm saying is that I think Elway is in over his head in the front office. I agree. Elway never struck me as the sharpest knife in the drawer anyway and this Manning/Tebow thing has the potential to blow up in his face. One or two hard hits [adding the fact Denver doesn't play under a dome where the Winters get just plain frigid] and Manning could be done sooner rather than later.
  5. What I don't get in all this is if Manning wants another Super Bowl ring, why on Earth would he pick the Broncos? They are at least five years away from becoming any sort of meaningful threat in the AFC, let alone the playoffs. Secondly, why does Tebow go to the Jets? He is no improvement over Sanchez and will bring his crazed "Tebow-time" fans with him. Wouldn't that be more of a distraction rather than a help? Both Jacksonville and Miami would have been a better fit, IMHO. Crazy-nuts.
  6. Coffee. Hot. Black. And in a cup.
  7. Born and raised in Portland, Oregon. Never been to Detroit. Visited New York once when I was around 10, Philadelphia, never. I think my choices, since I made them when I was just a kid, were probably based on how much I liked a team's uniforms. I know I loved the silver wings on the Eagle's green helmets and the winged wheel on Detroit's sweaters. And the Yankees? Who doesn't love the Yankees? Fair enough. I'm a former SoCal boy who roots for the Giants, 49ers, Angels and Lakers. Go figure. ROTFLOL Funniest thing I have ever read by you, Dan...thanks for the laugh
  8. OK. Just when you think it can't get any worse: The Niners give Smith a three year contract. So, the Barry Zito of football will hang around another THREE YEARS?!? Gaaa!!! Just shoot me....just shoot me now.
  9. I have no pity for Williams, either.
  10. Out West, I never see it in stores.
  11. I was more of a Night Stalker fan with Darren McGavin as Carl Kolchak.
  12. I'm surprised the Jag's or the Fish didn't pick him up; being a Florida boy and all.
  13. Wait, now hold on....Yankees, Eagles and the Red Wings? Is your house located on the Interstate or do you just travel a lot?
  14. Bad news, Niners fans: Alex "Pass? What's a pass?" Smith is back in uniform for another year. We'll NEVER get to the Super Bowl. Does Jed York just hate us fans, or what? Gaaa!!!
  15. My Weber Kettle BBQ is a charcoal workhorse. Steaks taste better than what you get in the restaurant. Dang, SS...give. Where in LaLa Land did you go? And, most importantly, what Blues band(s) were you listening to? [Off topic, but have you ever tried Tommy's World Famous on Beverly? There isn't anything which compares to their Double Chili Burger with everything and those little big hot peppers; can I get a witness?]
  16. Good news for Niners fans...Alex "Huh?" Smith is looking at the Miami Dolphins There IS a God!
  17. You would think he'd go with the Niners; not much chance of winning a Super Bowl in Denver.
  18. I once knew a guy who thought he could fly when he got stone, sloppy drunk; dove into a pool from his second floor balcony. It was only four feet deep. It wasn't pretty.
  19. It's all relative. Remember, this is baseball. No salary cap and owners who can't get out of their own way. More importantly, it's the Yankees. At the end of the day, Brian Cashman probably scrapes that much money off the bottom of his shoes. Good point. I had forgotten it was the Yankees we were talking about.
  20. My alma mater, Long Beach State, got knocked out early in a seven point loss to New Mexico; a team they should have beaten. Oh well.
  21. That certainly would explain why the fruit flies all show up when I'm out on the patio with a glass of wine.
