  1. Boss Sounds is great. I love the combination of Candoli & Strozier in the front line. And, of course Freeman. I know some people love Kamuca, but for me Strozier supplies the heat that is much more compatible with Candoli's playing.
  2. Cotton Mather Jerry Mathers Beaver Harris
  3. Wendy Carlos Walter Carlos (assisted by) Benjamin Folkman
  4. There's a Max Roach album where Au Privave is listed as Apres Vous. It makes one wonder whether the nonsensical Au Privave was Bird's way of playing with Apres Vous.
  5. Does anybody know who performs on that version of "It Might As Well Be Spring" that appears erroneously on that Mingus album in the Lionel Hampton Who's Who in Jazz series? There's a video: http://www.ebaumsworld.com/video/watch/897852/
  6. OT: Alan, good to see your name again. After you stopped updating your new releases & Philly site I wondered what had happened to you.
  7. Jane Withers (Josephine the Plumber, Baby Jane Withers) Mae Questel (Aunt Bluebell, voices of Olive Oyl & Betty Boop) Nancy Walker ("the quicker picker upper")
  8. Carrie Snodgress Drew Gress Kenny Drew Paul: you inverted Lorez Alexandria
  9. New release on Sunnyside, a concert from Santa Barbara in 2008. I've seen Zeitlin with his fabulous trio with Buster Williams and Matt Wilson, but this solo concert is sublime, one of the best solo piano albums I've heard in a long time.
  10. Jerry Lewis Joe E. Lewis Sinclair Lewis

Speaking of video... I assume this Sun Ra video has been discussed here at some time...
  12. Bernhard Schlink Lancelot Link Link Wray
  13. Donald "Duck" Dunn Steve Cropper Booker T. Jones
  14. This morning, the new Sinatra-Jobim rerelease on Lala. Last few days for Lala...I'll probably be switching to Napster... I'd been using Lala for full albums and Pandora for mixes. The main reason I don't use last.fm is because I pay for Pandora premium and get a better bitrate, and since I have my netbook hooked up to my stereo system the difference over last.fm is noticeable. Plus I've been very happy with what I get on my Pandora stations. The thing is, my CD collection isn't getting much love since when I'm out I listen to downloads mainly from eMusic (I was first a member when downloads were unlimited) and at home I often listen to Lala and Pandora.
  15. Good point...probably related music in style...

Stuttgart is one of the hottest shows from the tour, but why do you say turntable? http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000SSGULC/ I don't know what the source of my copy is, since it was a torrent on Dime, but my download pre-dates that CD release on Get Back.
  18. I took a quick listen. I'd also have guessed the first tune was Doug & Jean Carn.
  19. Bill Knott Jim Nutt Frank Nitti
  20. Nathan Lane Nathan Detroit Berry Gordy
  21. Let me get this clear. If Purdie wrote an autobiography and made the claims he made in his interviews, you'd accept those claims as fact, but you're extremely skeptical of a reference in a book published by a university press by an author who is the chair of music theory at U. Mich.?
  22. Charlie Parker Colonel Parker Major Bowes
  23. Percy Kilbride Percy Dovetonsils The Dovells
  24. Right, like in the Miles and Mingus "autobiographies."
