Vocal's pretty good. I don't like the backing at all. Just my opinion.

And then there are some folks who try too hard to stay young. Age is more than just a number.

I think you have to answer that question yourself. No one else can answer it for you and make it work.

I'm an old guy too, Peter, and I have no interest in most (or perhaps all) of Mainstream's 70's output. I don't think that age is a factor (for myself, anyway). It's strictly a matter of having some taste.

Red Mitchell - Harold Land Quintet: Hear Ye! (Atlantic/Koch) A good solid session - if I were using the old Down Beat ratings, I'd give it 3 1/2 stars - but nothing spectacular. I may hang on to it simply because I don't have a lot of Carmel Jones in my collection.
