  1. Slim Harpo: I'm a King Bee (Excello/Ace)
  2. That's a heckuva recommendation, Jeff. I have it among the CDs I plan on hanging on to. I hope to narrow my collection down to manageable numbers slowly but surely.
  3. Lester Bowie: Fast Last! (Muse)
  4. Sizzling the Blues - Recorded in New Orleans 1927 - 1929 (Frog)
  5. Curtis Amy: Katanga! Dupree Bolton!
  6. Lonnie Johnson with Elmer Snowden: Blues & Ballads
  7. Roscoe Mitchell: Composition/Improvisation 1, 2 & 3
  8. Eddie Diehl documentary:
  9. Always good to know that someone is listening to Cecil.
  10. Great to see a major newspaper giving coverage to musicians like these two. I hope that the article on Roscoe Mitchell will help him keep his position at Mills. It certainly can't hurt.
  11. Juke Boy Bonner 1960-67 (Flyright)
  12. Charles "Baron" MIngus: West Coast 1945-49 All reissues should be done as carefully and lovingly as this one. Thanks to Chuck, Dr. Sunenblick, and all involved. A musical and historical gem.
  13. Bud Freeman: The Dolphin Has a Message
  14. Buster Bailey: All About Memphis (Felsted/Affinity)
  15. Jerry West just joined them as a consultant. He's helped every team he's been involved with - Lakers, Memphis, lately the Warriors - so perhaps the Clips will improve eventually also. We shall see.
  16. Buddy Guy: A Man & the Blues
  17. Bud Freeman: Chicago/Austin High School Jazz in H-Fi Listening to this reminded me of the problems I have listening past the hard bop format on certain record dates. In this case it's trying to get past the Dixieland format. Sometimes I can, sometimes I can't. In this case, it's the latter.
  18. Eric Dolphy: Stockholm Sessions (Enja)
  19. Violin, Sing the Blues for Me - African-American Fiddlers 1926 - 1949 (Old Hat)
  20. Don Ellis w. Paul Bley & Steve Swallow: Out of Nowhere (Candid)
