  1. Duke Ellington 1947 - 1952 (CBS France) - LP 3 Why did Ellington employ so many vocalists who sounded like they were performers in mediocre B movies? (I include Al Hibbler in this group.) Luckily, the instrumentalists in the band were always there to save the day.
  2. I'm sure administrators are making BIG $.
  3. Wouldn't it be your responsibility to notify the sender of your new address?
  4. Monk: Big Band and Quartet in Concert
  5. Good luck with the tour, Jeff. Hope the three of you have fun.
  6. Walt Dickerson: To My Son (Steeplechase)
  7. Supposedly the guitar solo is Phil. If you listen to it, it's pretty tinny sounding guitar. Perhaps it was an ironic comment that the protagonist of the song won't make it "on Broadway" because he can't "play this here guitar". Or perhaps it was just Phil's ego getting in the way.
  8. Tina Brooks: Minor Move
  9. Okay - from your point of view, what can we here - as a group and individually - do, if anything?
  10. The Red Rodney Quintets (Fantasy/Prestige)
  11. As Yogi said, "It ain't over til it's over", but the Cavs are in trouble deep.
  12. That quote is some sad stuff, but it shows where much - probably most - of college educated society is at today. It's also interesting and indicative of the article's slant that this was the one former student who was quoted as speaking about the situation.
  13. The Art of Ivry Gitlis My copy has a different cover, but the music's the same and that's what matters.
  14. Bugs Bunny Taps Miller Honi Coles
  15. Sonny Thompson: Jam Sonny Jam (Sequel) For any Tina Brooks completists, he plays and solos on two tunes here, one an unissued take.
  16. Silas Hogan: I'm a Free Hearted Man (Flyright)
  17. The Persuasions: "Place in the Sun" from Live in the Whispering Gallery Couldn't find a YouTube link, unfortunately. But it's a great version of the song.
  18. Dylan plays Joplin? A mistyping, I realize.
  19. Haruki Murakami: The Elephant Vanishes
  20. Another one to watch again. One more thanks for the reminder.
