  1. Whatever Bird material they've uncovered might be interesting. Most of the rest looks like it might be the sort of thing Blue Note does these days - "Let's see if we can sell them the same stuff again."
  2. Johnny Cash Daddy Warbucks Bill Bradley
  3. Bill Lewis/Khan Jamal: The River (Philly Jazz)
  4. Al Hirschfeld Nina Simone Simone Legree (a nickname I've given my wife when she has chores for me to do.)
  5. Randy Weston: Berkshire Blues (Arista Freedom)
  6. Alec Guinness: A Positively Final Appearance I didn't want this one to end, though all things must, and his life ended shortly after writing this book.
  7. Vera - Season 1
  8. From Wikipedia: "Around this time, (Horace) Silver composed music for a television commercial for the drink, Tab." Louis Smith Blue Mitchell Carmell Jones
  9. Champion Trigger Billy Dee Williams
  10. Miles & Gil: Quiet Nights (CBS Sony Japan)
  11. Bud Powell '57 (Verve Japan) Strange title for music that was recorded in 1954 and 1955.
  12. I always keep the subtitles on when I'm watching a British TV show, simply because with the accents I occasionally can miss something if I'm just hearing the dialogue. I imagine that folks in Britain might have the same problem with American accents, and people for whom English is a second language would have even more of a problem with accents.
  13. I went once some years ago. I guess I have all the LPs and CDs I need these days, so I don't have an interest in attending.
  14. As were LPs, though I've never come across them in box form.
  15. Happy Birthday!
  16. Happy Birthday!
  17. Happy Birthday!
  18. Pixinguinha e Benedicto Lacerda (RCA Japan)
  19. Good article, I had no idea of all of the people involved in music who worked there. I recently heard someone give a motto: Honor the past; live in the present; look to the future. I think that fits here. I'm sure that people in Chicago will miss the JRM, but everyone who's living has life to look forward to. That's important..
  20. Funny - I have that one in my "To Listen" lineup. Haven't heard it in a long time. I'll be interested to see how it goes for me.
  21. Sonny Rollins at Music Inn/Teddy Edwards at Falcon's Lair (Metrojazz)
  22. When Johnny Cash sings, I believe what he's saying.
  23. To interrupt for a moment, what a collection of (I don't know whether to call them actors, performers, characters, or what) on that poster! OK - back to Name Three People.
  24. Rumpelstiltskin Charlie Weaver Gary Wright
