  1. To get back to K. Washington, listening to the clips that have been posted, what he and his fellow musicians do was done (better) 40 years ago - and I had no use for it back then. Recycled pap.
  2. Ali Smith: The Accidental
  3. Robert Zimmerman Dylan Thomas James Arness
  4. I believe that I've read all of the Morse mysteries. Time for me to do some rereading.
  5. Roger Moore Jill St. John Johnny Johnson
  6. I still use cool occasionally, but I may be entitled to, since I grew up with it. The phrase I don't like is " that's interesting". Nothing wrong with the phrase itself, but it's used too often as a way to avoid passing judgment or to avoid saying anything meaningful.
  7. A friend sent me news of this in an email. It seems sad to me, but I thought I'd post it in case anyone close to Queens, N.Y. might be interested. http://www.luckyrabbitestatesales.com/upcomingsales.htm
  8. I should have noted, it says on the back, this reissue produced by and liner notes by Bill Grauer, Jr. and Orin Keepnews. Jacket has sticker from A. Harris & Co. Record Shop, and a handwritten price, $3.85. That's an interesting bit of information. Thanks for sharing it.
  9. I wouldn't have thought there was a market for one volume, let alone three. There evidently was someone at RCA who was a jazz lover/fan back then.
  10. Surprising to me that RCA released a 10 inch LP of Benny Moten's music.
  11. I couldn't care less about Wynton & company's opinions on anything. I have them on ignore in my everyday life.
  12. Joe Bananas Don Cherry Agent Orange
  13. Boo Boo Seymour Buddy
  14. Wyatt Earp Billie Holiday Kid Thomas Valentine
  15. Does anyone know who owns the Muse catalog these days? I tried a couple of times to find a decent LP copy of Art Hodes/Milt Hinton: Just the Two of Us, but had no luck. From what I heard, all the pressings were bad - though a friend got a promo copy that's a good pressing, so who knows? I'd love to pick up a CD copy if there ever were a reissue, but that doesn't seem very likely.
  16. He's a great pitcher and a joy to watch - I say that as a baseball fan, not as a Yankees fan (which I hardly am anymore) - but I agree. Unfortunately, I can't see him lasting the season.
  17. Serge Gainsbourg Thomas Gainsborough B.B. King
  18. The Sextet of Orchestra USA (RCA France) Some good Eric Dolphy on this one and a couple of good solos by Jimmy Raney and Thad Jones, but there's better by all in other places.
  19. The Left Banke Wells Fargo Frances McDormand
  20. Mal Waldron: Mingus Lives (Enja)
