  1. Pieter Wispelwey and Dean Lazic: Sonatas for Cello and Piano - Shostakovich; Prokofiev; Britten Margaret Johnson 1923-1927 Cecil Taylor: Artists House Presents the Jazz Master Class Series from NYU - DVD The above was partially funded by the Herb Alpert Foundation. I wonder what will happen when Quincy Jones lets Herb know what he helped pay for this time.

  12. Sounds good to me.
  13. Don't have the Ace reissue, but in the notes for an earlier reissue of the same material on the Modern Blues label, reissue producer Daniel Jacoubovitch notes that "the horn figure on 'Let's Have a Natural Ball' was adopted from Horace Silver's 'Cookin' at the Continental', one of the jazz tunes the band played to open sets before Albert came onstage." "Adopted" is putting it nicely.
  14. Nice, ain't it? I don't listen to music when I'm hoovering. Or showering. Or gardening. Or even just sitting out in it - my neighbours cured me of that by blasting out heavy metal when I had a bunch of 1926 sermons by Rev Gates on once - OUCH! Or in a record shop MG Amazing how sometimes music sounds better in a record store than it does when you play it at home.
  15. I had never heard of Paul Stocker before his name appeared on this thread. Did a search and found a link to a video:

  18. I was the one who used the word "agenda", not Weizen. "believe me, at the time it happened, EVERYBODY knew it was acid-related." Linkletter's daughter died in 1969. How old were you then Allen - 15? Find it hard to accept that a 15 year old knew "everybody". "I'm sure she had the best autopsy doctor that money could buy. Family values and all that." What you're saying doesn't make sense to me. If Art Linkletter wanted to cover up drug use by his daughter, why would he pay for a coverup autopsy and then make public statements that LSD use was the cause of his daughter's death? You don't cover something up and then air it out.

  20. I sense a conspiracy!!! Not to rain on Allen's agenda, but The NY Times obit today mentions his daughter's death and states that an autopsy showed no signs of LSD in her body.
