  1. Lester Williams: Texas Troubadour (Ace) With apologies to Ernest Tubb's band - but the music is fine & so is the remaster job by the late Bob Jones. Good to hear the news about Mr. Fielder.
  2. A bunch of used copies on amazon for about $11. Also excellent (though the mastering could have been a lot better), and available cheap on Amazon is Waves, from 1978 with Holland, Joe Daly and the great Thurman Barker. Well, there's also Paragon, on the French Fluid label. I don't think it's been issued on CD, either. Thanks for the tip---I found a rapidshare (The Quest can be found too, if anyone's interested)...This group means a lot to me because I saw them so many times when I was 18-19 years old...and the reunion a couple of years ago at Columbia. Sam Rivers/Dave Holland: Duo Vo. 1 on Improvising Artists is a very good one. Rivers plays tenor on one side & soprano on the other. I've never cared for Vol. 2 as much - Rivers on flute and piano - but perhaps that's just me. I do recommend Vol. 1 though.
  3. Since you have the album, why not listen to it and decide for yourself?

  6. Not something that the illegal downloaders, buyers of bootlegs seem to think about.
  7. Ah, yes! The same rhythm team as here: Yeah - another one of my favorites. Wilbur Ware is especially fine on the Monterose.
  8. Lee Morgan: Indeed! (BN/King Japan) Lee Morgan at 18(!), C. Sharpe wailing, Philly Joe driving & punctuating, Horace, the steady hand holding things together, & Wilbur Ware, the heartbeat
  9. The In-Laws Peter Falk Alan Arkin
  10. Great news! I heard the Rivers/Holland/Altschul trio play one evening - wonderful memory. A reissue of Rivbea material will find a welcome place in my home.

  19. Yeah, & "works of art" should be protected under the time limits of the copyright laws. That's not what It Should be You was saying.

  22. This has been argued before, but why not again. To me, there's no difference between a parent or relative bequeathing a house or money to heirs and a musician or author bequeathing the rights to the works they created. That is their heritage and their "real wealth", as you call it. Others, including yourself, think differently.
