  6. Just want to add that Alvin Fielder's comments in your interview were like a mini-history lesson of jazz drumming. Made me want to LISTEN.
  7. Feel for you, Jeff. It shows how invested you were in your work. My wife retired (voluntarily) last June after 36 years of teaching & she still misses it sometimes. It's a great thing to love the work you do, but what you're going through is the down side of that. I know that things will get better over time.
  8. Great memory! Must have been wild to hear that.
  9. Bob Rusch in Cadence panned both the Burton Greene Woodstock Playhouse album and Giuseppi Logan's Tompkins Square album. He felt that neither should have been released (for different reasons) - saying that releasing them did an injustice to both musicians. He made a comparison with Allen Eager's Uptown recording and Anita O'Day's last recording as being recorded travesties that a caring producer would have left unreleased. I haven't hear either the Greene or Logan, but Mr. Rusch's review made me want to hear both, if only to find out if they're truly that bad.
  10. Beautiful interview, Clifford. Hope that everyone here takes the time to read it.

  12. I'm not the biggest Hill fan, but the clips sounded interesting. I look forward to listening to it.

  20. Clark Terry: Yes, the Blues (Pablo red vinyl) A good friend, who's mainly a blues buff, asked me about this one - I'm sure he was interested because of the presence of both Cleanhead Vinson & George "Harmonica" Smith on it. I told him that I hadn't listened to it in years but, at least from memory, it was an okay but not essential record. Decided to listen again & had a different reaction. I still don't think it's an essential record, but it's better than okay & has a lot of good things happening on it. I found it very enjoyable this time around. I still have to get back to my friend with my updated opinion - I have a feeling he'll enjoy it even more than I did.

  22. I Don't have the Mosaic, but I listened to my King LP twice this afternoon & didn't hear any electronic noise or stray trumpet note on it.
  23. Thanks for doing this. Looking forward to hearing it.
