  20. Thanks for all of your good wishes. brownie's post of a Sempe drawing made my day. Quiet birthday - Joan and I went to a CPR recertification class that lasted all morning. After that ended, she took me to lunch at my favorite restaurant and gave me a copy of Robin Kelley's Monk biography and a book on Georgia woodcarver Ulysses Davis' sculptures. We'd seen an exhibition of his works last summer, and it was good to revisit what we'd seen then. Now that I've become an old fart, I've come to appreciate birthdays. Thanks once again to all.
  21. If you don't mind reissues, Sundazed has done mono LPs of Blond and Harding. Both sound better than other stereo versions that I've heard.

  24. Forgive me if I'm missing something obvious here, but - why? Archie Shepp was mentioned as a part of the milieu of Amherst, Ma. The writer wanted to show that Amherst wasn't a typical American town.
