  1. A novel concept for a BB, I would be down with it.
  2. Oh what the hell, how about Ray Nance on any version of 'A' Train he did, and most definitely on "Limbo Jazz" off the Ellington/Hawkins date.
  3. I know there is a saying something like this "It's not how much you say, but rather what you say." I thought it would be cool to list some of your favorite solos that are really short, but oh so sweet. Solos that really speak loudly, but don't last very long. I usually find this to be common with tunes that have vocals. One of my favorites is Cootie Williams, and Lawrence Brown on "Do Nothing 'Till You Hear From" with Al Hibbler on vocals. Another is a live version of Sinatra on "I've Got You Under My Skin," I know the band is Basie and I've always assumed the trombone was that of either Al Grey or Benny Powell. I can't say for sure since I only have this on the Reprise compilation CD "The Very Good Years." I'll toss in a third, and yes it's another Sinatra. This time with Ellington the song is "Follow Me," and the two masters of the sweet but short are Cootie Williams, and Paul Gonsalves.
  4. I always knew I picked the wrong career.
  5. Starting the month off tonight with..... Charlie Rouse/Red Rodney - Social Call Joe Henderson - Our Thing Horace Parlan - On The Spur Of The Moment Chased with a few of these...
  6. That's always good quality to have for picking up chicks, no?
  7. So, obviously Herschel was cheating.
  8. Dexter Gordon, Horace Parlan, Henk Haverhoek
  9. Barry Harris
  10. Bobby Jones and Charles McPherson 1970
  11. It looks like Lester is cheating.
  12. You can find McCoy Tyner on this one. Might not be a huge stretch since it is supposed to be blues, but Jim Belushi?
  13. That's why I struggle with the trade. Dellucci was not being used everyday and should have been given that opportunity. He normally produces, and does not have all the baggage. Still, it's done and over, so I have to hope Mondesi works out.
  14. Paul Desmond with Art Garfunkel in 1977 on Watermark. Chet Baker did some shit with Elvis Costello.
  15. I hope you're right. The D-Backs went on a rampage with a bunch of rookies before the All-Star break, win the first two after, and then slide into a shit hole. They went from 4 games back of SF and in the wild card seat, to 12 games out of first, and now 4 1/2 games below Philly for the wild card. I really liked Delucci, but hopefully Mondesi bad attitude and all will help. We've got no chance of catching the Giants, but might still sneak into the post season.
  16. Stan Getz on a 1988 Huey Lewis record "Small World."
  17. That's a great price at CDUniverse. I almost ordered from B&N for $12.99.
  18. Brownie, I get plenty of real ones. It's usually an alert of the alarm going off at my equipment yard. I think now my brain is programmed with the rings, it's very annoying when it's not real.
  19. Me too, and I think I can see nip....
  20. I think Mary Lou is cheating.
  21. This brings back memories. When I was a kid these things were all over the place. My pals and I probably collected close to a hundred from various locations.
  22. These pretzels are making me thirsty!
  23. Hank Jones - Ain't Misbehavin' Kenny Burrell - All Night Long
