  1. I haven't heard this new one. I'm less and less a fan of Wayne the deconstructionist. I've made my way through about twelve discs of the recent tour (boots) several times and it's tough work. . . . I think one person's deconstructing IS another's noodling. . . . I like the group with Hancock and Holland better than the group with Perez. . . .I probably agree in spirit with Jack
  2. Red rice (not the New Orleans variety, though I dig that too!) As for breakfast cereals, there's a bulk item at Central Market I really like, a granola known as "Super Nutty," and when I feel like spending more, there's a Familia box I grab called "Low Fat Granola" . . . . I used to buy Familia "Jungle Crunch" but it's not carried any longer, darnit! Good stuff! For a long time I was a Grape Nuts person, but I'd get these barley burps in the mid morning that were not fun. And then I tried to be a Skinner Raison Bran man. . . but the granola got me.
  3. I don't believe it is possible. The monthly item seems to need to be a single disc. (If you don't have one in your cue, they'll charge you for a single disc). You can instantly send them to your cart and purchase them; I wish you couldn't. I did that this morning on a box set of Satie. . . .
  4. It's a silkscreening error in the plant. I've a few like that. One is one of the Cellar Door cds; the Miles info is inked over a Mariah Carey label!
  5. I'll probably have mine tonight or tomorrow. Yeah, that live stuff I have already heard; it's fantastic!
  6. Hmmmm. . . he was one of the draws for me for the session, so I may not have the same reaction! -_-
  7. Don't read! It only encourages them! -_-
  8. Yes, I hope they keep mining the Vortex vein as this and the Byard Lancaster are great to have on cd, and they're practically the best they can be from Water.
  9. Well, I think that the fact that Blue Note is willing to licence problem (their assessment probably) titles to Water is a great thing. Water is in fact doing a better job than the Connoisseur series in my opinion in presenting these reissues (they sound better, they have beautiful booklets). I love the RVG series, but these sort of titles will likely never be considered for that series. I'm happy to get them from Water; keep 'em coming!
  10. I think they're cool too, but I'm forbidden to even think so by my wife, so you didn't hear that from ME, you made it up, right?
  11. I haven't myself gotten the Frog Djangos. Those and the two newest are I believe the Frogs I don't have! You are right sir: Ted Kendall on the first Django JSP set. Thanks for the correction.
  12. First set was remasterd by Mr. Davies. Second set. . . I don't have it. . .I've been told it is uncredited and sounds fine. Third set was remastered by Ted Kendall (Davies' protege so to speak).
  13. Thanks for weighing in. I'm going to see it this weekend. Been looking forward to this and it seemed promising; glad that the promise seems realized.
  14. Ah Noj, I'm just jealous! I wish I could buy all those for the first time! Those are all a thrill to explore. Move "Plays W. C. Handy" to the first few on your list. . . it's THAT good. -_-
  15. WHAT! YOU DON'T HAVE THOSE ALREADY? Good list!
  16. Cool. Definitely looks good!
  17. Though "Infinite Search" (is it really from 1969?) looks interesting. I'll put on my "hmmm" list.
  18. Haven't heard it. I gave up listening to John after about "Electric Guitarist." I hear bits and pieces after that and yeah some cool stuff, but I know I wouldn't really listen much and I've never sought copies for myself. It's me, after years of playing in bands with guitarists, I'm finicky about guitarists and don't spend a lot of time listening to guitar-led dates. . . .
  19. There's a strong possibly she had the Carnegie Hall version which may or may not actually be the two on stage together.
  20. Get a 99 minute cdr! Kari, John DOES play on one of the three nights in the six cd set. . . . I actually like his contributions here (I like John so much more with Miles than without Miles).
  21. I'm not crazy about the sound on this set, but the music is great; I like the stuff with Foster, he and Lou were combined something really cool!
  22. So many of these I haven't heard, and look great, but I'm broke. Sometime soon I have to get more of the Hines, I have to get the Ewell and all the McCanns! Favorites I do have: Condon Any of the ones with Sutton and anyone else! Stacy Davern/Phillips DILL JONES! Soprano Summit BRAFF AND HERMAN!
  23. TraneMonk, the Parlan is a bad example, the Stitt a good one, for your purposes! Rolf, yes, never even a TOCJ!
