Though "Infinite Search" (is it really from 1969?) looks interesting. I'll put on my "hmmm" list.

Haven't heard it. I gave up listening to John after about "Electric Guitarist." I hear bits and pieces after that and yeah some cool stuff, but I know I wouldn't really listen much and I've never sought copies for myself. It's me, after years of playing in bands with guitarists, I'm finicky about guitarists and don't spend a lot of time listening to guitar-led dates. . . .

There's a strong possibly she had the Carnegie Hall version which may or may not actually be the two on stage together.
-
Get a 99 minute cdr! Kari, John DOES play on one of the three nights in the six cd set. . . . I actually like his contributions here (I like John so much more with Miles than without Miles).
-
I'm not crazy about the sound on this set, but the music is great; I like the stuff with Foster, he and Lou were combined something really cool!

So many of these I haven't heard, and look great, but I'm broke. Sometime soon I have to get more of the Hines, I have to get the Ewell and all the McCanns! Favorites I do have: Condon Any of the ones with Sutton and anyone else! Stacy Davern/Phillips DILL JONES! Soprano Summit BRAFF AND HERMAN! -
TraneMonk, the Parlan is a bad example, the Stitt a good one, for your purposes! Rolf, yes, never even a TOCJ!

The MLWs are highly recommended. -
I don't know why YOU feel like you were played for a chump unless you have condemned him for extralegal reasons and feel cheated. I personally have nowhere near enough information to condemn him, and I'm going to assume he is not the huge pervert you seem to think he is. Weird, yes. Very. It's not been proven that he is guilty of any of the charges raised against him in our system. And looking at what I can of THIS trial if I were on that jury I would have been unconvinced of his guilt as well. And that's the thing with this system: you have to be CONVINCED of guilt, innocence is presumed otherwise. That is what I want for me, my family, my friends, anyone. Not a court of public opinion.
-
Berigan, the smiley was for Moose's comment that he didn't know about the previous convictions. See there ARE NO PREVIOUS CONVICTIONS. You've just condemned a man outside of court for something no court has condemned him! That is NOT what our system of justice has done. Nor is it what it is designed to do. I'm glad.

What! REMOVE it from the box set! You're mad man, MAD!

They are indeed nice, and they're well paired. That's pretty true of the whole EMI series (London, Cole, Christy, etc.)--the lps are paired nicely together.

Okay, here's what I can verify: On the soundtrack recording there are two versions: Version one Billie sings with Charlie Beal accompanying her on piano. Version two Billie sings with Pops' band in the film accompanying her. Louis doesn't even as much as go "Uh Huh," or "MMMMMmama" on these. Mum's the word! The V-Disc version from Carnegie Hall DOES seem as if it is two separate performances merged. Perhaps the only times that Billie and Pops actually sing together are on those wonderful Decca studio duet numbers?

Hey, that Leo Parker is from a TOCJ. It sounds great. Doesn't have the alternate that was on the US edition though. That one too is coming up in the RVG program according to Kevin (I think).
-
I DO I DO! I appreciate the fact that one obscure BN recording surfaces in this series from time to time - LIKE the Leo Parker, Lonnie Smith ("Think"), and the Mobley "Poppin'" I ain't a-gettin' any younger waiting for BN USA to get these in print, so for now... ← Think is scheduled for a summer RVG! Gonna be a good one!

Evan, I do enjoy the sound of some of the RVGs (and even a few Connoisseurs) more than the sound of some Mosaics. A remastering engineer CAN make a difference with material, to the better or the worse. Maybe I'm imagining the differences I hear on my system, but I hear them. I happen to like the way that RVG transfers and translates the sound of the tape to digital. And I happen to like the sound of say TOCJs and RVGs of the Lee Morgan material to the sound of the Mosaic. The sound of the Larry Young material on RVG and Connoisseur to the Mosaic. The sound of the Sam Rivers on Conn to the Mosaic. Etc. Age of the transfers and the technology use make a difference too. Now to many these differences are either not apparent, or not important, and I can understand that. I can even wish that was the way I felt; I'd have money in the bank!

I think that THESE charges were not accepted as true by the jury and they were dismissed. He may have been guilty of molestation, but so far he has never been found guilty in a court of law for molestation. In the sense that a jury found these charges unsupported and they were dismissed the system is working and I am glad it is.
-
Not unless you want to hear what RVG did to the tapes, or want to have a complete collection of RVG issues. (I'm guilty of both desires! I've got every RVG cd. . . And I'd like to hear what he does with this session!)

I need to add a smiley to the above! "Shades of Redd" . . . all blued over. . . would be hilarious to me!
-
I've been hoping to find a copy of "Shades of Red."

The Deluxe edition of "Round About Midnight" is out TODAY. Mine shipped from cduniverse yesterday! -
From what little I know of artists AND their heirs, there are things to "see." -_-

I have a copy of the Spanish cd of the soundtrack version of the "New Orleans" film (in fact, I have one for sale, as I also have this on the Jazz Crusade label) that includes a version of this, AND I also have, I believe, a different version on a Classics disc. I haven't played the latter in years and I'm not positive that they are not the same, but I believe the Classics includes the Carnegie Hall version with Pops.

Thanks for the info Chris.
