Plenty of material on labels that haven't been reissued as Stefan notes (I'd love to see Warner Bros. fifties and sixties material, and Black and White sessions, among others) and there are a lot of small labels that have not been reissued at all or hardly at all. . . .
-
Many many more happy ones!
-
Well, there was a domestic lp! Or two or three, actually!
-
Richard Zimmerman is the pianist on my set, details are here: http://www.rag-time.com/arc/works.htm His work has gotten some rotten customer comments on Amazon but I don't feel that I agree with them. This is a good series of cds if you ask me, and not expensive. . . . I bought a set for my father as well, and he really enjoys the set, listens to it more often than I do.
-
Can't locate it at the moment and don't remember the pianist's name BUT it isn't fast ragtime.
-
JON IS FINALLY GONE! I'm happy about that. It was painful to watch someone else go and there he was. . . whether he enjoyed still being there or not. And having to hear him sing. . . ouch! Doing the Estafan material really taxed nearly all of them. . . I mean I think Diana DeGarmo did the best, which surprised me, and Fantasia. . . SUCKED. Since Jennifer is gone I'm not really excited about any of them as much. . . I'm going to root for George because I just FEEL him, and if Latoya won I'd not be disappointed.

Have you ever robbed a bank?
jazzbo replied to rockefeller center's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
No. About twenty-seven years ago a bank gave me three hundred extra dollars in cashing a paycheck. I didn't realize it til I got home. I have to admit I debated about thirty seconds before getting back in the car and going back to the bank where the teller looked incredibly relieved and said "I NEVER would have been able to tell where that money went!" Now if I had known THAT I would probably have deliberated longer before returning to the bank. . . . Am I a bad person? -
MANY HAPPY RETURNS!
-
I said other because . . . mostly it's other, cduniverse, worldsrecords, and Tower locally.
-
Maybe it will be a picture of Queen Latifa?

The strangest thing happened to me today......
jazzbo replied to Brandon Burke's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Good news Brandon! I'll recommend that shop as well. -
I'm sure they still do; it's their shtick. I actually don't prefer it and it is one of several reasons why I don't shop there with any frequency at all.
-
Some do. . . . I'm not including myself in that batch, but I know some do.
-
Matthew tells it pretty straight. I've heard three versions of this, and the sound is better on some, and listenable on all, but not great.

jazzbo replied to Brandon Burke's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Well rather than hear news about Wu Tan breaking up, I was more interested to hear news of Brandon's bike and its state of repair and who might be financing said repair. . . . -
The MATERIAL is wonderful stuff. I have a four disc collection on New World that I really enjoy. Haven't heard this pianist's work.
-
"Badge" by Cream was the first single I ever purchased and I purchased it because it was a favorite, heard over BBC Radio and Radio Lorenco Marques.
-
I guess the only real reason to complain is if you are speculating on the value of limited edition specially packaged items such as the Japanese RVG series in the lp facimile edition. . . . If other versions of the music are available (and RVG'd at that) then the value MAY go down. . . .
-
Alexander, I like The Magic Hour as well. Not sure I'd buy the Prince on BN.
-
Well that's interesting. . . I view them quite differently! I'd much rather listen to Norah!

What's the oldest 'current' Mosaic box?
jazzbo replied to wesbed's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
Jeff, maybe it's because I'm listening to a lot of early jazz that many others find unlistenable, but really I find the sound adequate at its worst and there are sessions better in sound than others. We've gone all over this time and again and here is the best thread about the set: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...92&hl=benedetti I think that Mosaic has done a great service to jazz history by purchasing this and giving it the loving care and attention that they did. I'm so glad they own it and are offering it outside a limited edition status. One of the best booklets ever, as well, as noted above. -
I'm with you on Cassandra!
-
The August 10 batch, closest to my birthday, is the one I'm waiting on!
-
It's probably going to be a two disc set; I don't see them lopping off part of the material to fit, and if it were just one of the volumes I would guess that would be indicated. . . .
