  1. Hey at least you didn't buy the Japanese 24 bit Lateef that came out about five years ago!
  2. "The music in any cd form!"
  3. These were released several times on cd in America: *Grachan Moncur III Evolution Lee Morgan Delightfulee Lee Morgan The Rajah These are Japan only cds: Lee Morgan Indeed!,Vol. 1 Lee Morgan Vol. 2 Duke Pearson Tender Feelin’s Duke Pearson Profile Jutta Hippa Live at the Hickory House Vol 1&2 Curits Fuller The Opener Curtis Fuller Bones & Bari
  4. I'll add a thumbs up to her HEP solo cd "Plays Duke Ellington." I really enjoy her playing and this is a solid cd!
  5. Yeah I was wondering why they celebrate it now rather than on my birthday. . .I mean Louis' real birthday!
  6. Thank goodness I've got a few dozen ties (one owned by Jerome Richardson, thanks Jim!) Welcome!
  7. I definitely hear the beginning of that bashing style (which I really mourn got developed and became an dominant element of his playing). Black Comedy has always been a highlight for me of the album though, I like the shifting that the composition goes through. Filles really does stand alone in some ways. It blew my mind a looooonnnnnnng time ago and I still get a rush hearing it. I bought the DSD Sony cd and I'm glad I did. (Probably will end up getting it on SACD one day!)
  8. I believe they also appeared on a TOCJ early cd of guitar sessions. Great sessions. . . probably nice to have them on vinyl.
  9. The Blue Note recordings WERE out on cd but seem to be out of print now; they were part of the 10" series of Connoisseurs.
  10. I'm with you Kulu. I actually find that I like Blood on the Fields. . . I never did at first but over theyears it has grown on me quite a bit.
  11. Howdy Clem. Well, I just missed out on this box set on ebay in one of those last thirty second deals. Trying not to pay more than 45 or 50 dollars. . . .
  12. Yeah. . . The Question. . .sort of a waterdown Mr. A. . . that would be interesting.
  13. Never saw them. . . I was in Addis Ababa in 1967 . . . ! Every now and then I would get to see some Ethiopian TV at a neighbor's house. . . and the most interesting thing I saw was "Thunderbirds" (which is going to be a movie!)
  14. Although come to think of it. . . Mr. A would make a nice weird movie. . . !
  15. Give me Ditko's Dr. Strange. . . or give me The Spirit! But I'll take Spiderman 2 with Doc Ock in the meantime. . . I'm eager to see it. I liked the first one, the one thing I really most wish had been different in that one was the Goblin; I think they should have had the really funny looking purple and green Goblin from his first appearances in print. . . the contrast between his goofiness and his ruthlessness was poignant!
  16. Don't do it! Save your money for the lean years ahead of us as we battle terror endlessly! Well. . .I tried. I'm probably most looking forward to the Dex and the Dinah!
  17. Oh so it's that one eh? I know I'll cave soon enough!
  18. No, I don't have any way to burn from downloading, and I don't have much opportunity to listen on the computer at home (my wife is very amusical and the computer is smack dab in her area).
  19. Hey is this a good place to say that I don't like the guidelines they have for cd reviews? Nah, I don't think so! We SHOULD foster a rapport between the two sites I feel. Glad to see that there is talking going on between the administrators.
  20. If that's a sin. . . well. . . it's a good thing I don't believe in the conventional afterlife options. . . .
  21. No! Not one more word about that box set! (Because I don't have it and want to NOT spend money!) Listening to Dick's Picks Volume One right now. . . Weather Report Suite. . . wish I could listen to it LOUDER but people in the "office" here just refuse to LEAVE!
  22. Good advice! Filles was one of the very first Miles lps I ever heard and remains one of my favorites. . . . Don't pass it by!
  23. Also possible is that your friend's system is likelier to be tube based, and there is a lot of talk that tube systems can benefit/exhibit more from cleaner power. . . .
