  1. I'm a big fan of Nellie Lutcher. I have the Bear Family box and really think she's a wonderful singer, player, writer. . .you name it!
  2. Many more happy ones!
  3. Hey, I think this also includes the Wynton Kelly Trio!
  4. Actually I think you'll like the cleaner version on the cd, you can really hear the resonating piano at the beginning of the track, and it's adding to the beauty.
  5. My monthly bus pass still costs ten dollars!

Hey, I'll like it, I've enjoyed his work with Tony Scott. . . .!
  7. Yes, I have one of these for my George Lewis set.
  8. Sometimes psychosis kicks in and a big bonfire is started with chants of "Damn You Mosaic! Damn You Mosaic! Damn You Mosaic!" . . .

Andrea is quite accomplished, and I think this will be a nice cd, will definitely let you know how it is when in hand. . . .!

    Jobim

Word! Anyone heard this one: Just plucked a reasonably priced copy from half.com . . . .
  11. It's domestic, part of a FANTASTIC series of reissues on Water Records out of San Francisco. Their previous reissues of the two Eddie Gale Blue Notes and a Byard Lancaster on Vortex are among the best sounding and most well produced reissues of the last few years.
  12. As I remember. . . neither. Sort of. ..hardbop.
  13. I've got an lp burn of this somewhere, from an American lp, and this is kindof. . . hardbop!
  14. Camille Velasco. She was so unnerved by the whole process of the show that she ruined every one of her performances. . . . Poor woman. I really think she was a great singer in waiting. . . . She may prove to be a great pop idol yet, but her time is not now!
  15. You may want to attempt to make a cdr with volume adjustments. . .some burners and software, both pc and audio type, can accomplish this; I have recently gotten an HBH that does a nice job with level changes in both analog and digital domains. . . . I can conceive of you making a cdr that had the balance of both types of tracks just how you want it, and then you could just play that cdr rather than the cd itself.
  16. I paid a big dollar, about two and a half, about two years ago for a Samsung that I have had going with no problems whatsoever. I enjoy having it because now with my previous vcr that stills plays back well but doesn't record, I can make copies of jazz vidoes. . .
  17. And I think that is all guesswork!
  18. Nah. Can't blame the Germans for that. Individualizing language is something Americans are born with the ability to do. (Whether it is strangling it or altering it for the worse is in the eye of the beholder).
  19. It's an Indian name I believe. Though there are plenty of crazy Germans there!
  20. Huntington National is the way to go. Ohioans. . . numerically challenged? Perhaps. But good people!
  21. I went with the Morgan Shorter. Just by a hair.
  22. It's just how Helen defines "her favorite". . . her favorite is the one that gives the best performance . . . .that worked for her, her favorites were changing week by week. It's not how I would have voted if I voted; I would have voted for Lea LaBelle and Jennifer Hudson til one or the other was bumped and then voted for the survivor til there was no more voting for that survivor. But Helen had hte phone!
  23. My wife votes. . .but she's just a kid! (A 48 year young kid!) She votes for the two whose performances she likes most each week. . .She's quite good about that, doesn't always vote for the same people week by week. Last week she voted for La Toya and Fantasia. . .
  24. Hmmm. . . I entertain no such hope. . . I really doubt that they will!
  25. I'm sure there are influences back and forth between these two. I'm not an AEC fan, somehow, I've never been able to really appreciate them, maybe one day. I'm crazy about Ra. I think it's the centrality of the vision of Ra's music that is one major difference between them: sort of the difference between a composer and his orchestra (Ra) and a collective group of creative musicians doing THEIR music (AEC). . . . This has shaped their work differently at the core I think.
