Hey, didn't Prime Time do an update of the Coleman material, called "Booty Call"?

Sound quality is very good on that Soundies disc of Ducal transcriptions. I'm willing to bet that it will show up again on cd before too long. All but one or two of these used to be on a Jass or another of the Stash labels cd before this release, and I wouldn't be too surprised to see it show up on Storyville or Circle after this release is gone. . . Blanton-Webster band stuff will surface!

Yeah, it's whack stuff. .. I guess that's why I like it. Something new to marvel at on each listen!

I really like Bill Mathieo's arranging and the performances on Standards in Silhouette. Easy Go (1950-1952) is also a good cd, with some swinging stuff on it and atypically loose. I like West Side Story too. . . and City of Glass. Not sure I can single out why I like either, just do!

This seller may have a "Zero" rating but that's not representative;the seller/contact is Shawn, and he's been on the net on boards for years, and is a primo first rate top notch seller/buyer (among other things). The "seller" is a record shop he is now assisting with internet sales. A reputable place as well.

Actually, I'm waiting for the version of the complete box set that has been remastered run through a Silvertone amp that has NOT had the capacitors replaced, and with contact paper covers! The Prestige box set acutally sounds okay; like the Riverside Monk set it errs by being a little thick and dark sounding rather than being thin and harsh sounding! The remastering holds up pretty well, and it's nice to have the sessions chronologically presented. BUT I have bought either XRCD or K2 or DigitalK2 remasters of all but two for three of the original lps in the set . . . . I find I like the individual discs of the sessions because I grew up thinking of many of them this way, and I like the remastered sound.

I wouldn't mind being there with a dozen bags of sandwhiches and three cases of beer!

Did a little organizing yesterday and realized I have over 110 Jimi boots, and over 100 with covers that I made myself, which was a lot of fun. So this thread really doesn't apply to me, does it!

I haven't heard this in a while, but I'd say it's in between those two. . . it's not to my ears a dead serious true African recording, and it's not a stereo spectacular let's wake up the Amerikans jive recording either. . . .

You won't regret it. SOUNDS FANTASTIC, and has bonus material that is not on the lp or French cd if you have those.

I've a good failure rate going too! What can I expect from the son of the man who invented the "Who's buried in Grant's tomb?" round the dinner table history question!

Hey, that's EIGHT crappy cds. . . One of the sets is a two cd set. . . More CRAP than you thought for your money!

I'm not sure---I think it may have shown up first on the early US cd. . . .

My copies of these didn't ship til today! I think it was the Jobim that was also in the order that slowed it down. . . .
