  1. Jon Irabagon “Behind the Sky” An interesting quintet date featuring Tom Harrell. I have become quite amazed at how Harrell can fit into so many configurations of jazz. It’s cold enough up here this morning. . . but this cover picture made me put on a sweater.
  2. Bennie Green “Soul Stirrin’” Blue Note 599×588 89.9 KB From this set:
  3. That shirt looks familiar. Nice pics.
  4. Lee Morgan "Complete Live at the Lighthouse" Blue Note Japan UHQCD box set, disc 7
  5. Yes, Freddie Waits. He and Mickey Roker should get more "love." Right now. . . on to. . .Something more. . . avant-garde. Abthony Williams “Spring” Blue Note Japan 85th Anniversary UHQCD Sounds great. I briefly compared it to the Japanese Blue Note 24 Bit by RVG LP facsimile cd, and that also sounds great, no clear winner for me in my system. Both are keepers.
  6. I'd like to see a Ricky Ford set. .. Muse . . . plus?
  7. Finally spinning this one. Overall the sound is a bit inconsistent and could be better. But the music is not going to disappoint (or at least did not disappoint me!) 700×700 121 KB Wes Montgomery “Maximum Swing: The Unissued 1965 Half Note Recordings” Resonance Records, cd 1
  8. Peter Appleyard and the Jazz Giants “The Lost 1974 Sessions” Saw this, thought it would be good and boy is it.
  9. Yes, you're right. She was born in Mocambique, in Lourenco Marques, a city I know as we would vacation there when we lived in Swaziland. Then as a child moved to Lisbon. I think I was confused because this album was recorded in Brazil and the only other one that I have of hers was arranged and heavily partcipated within by Brazilian master cellist Jacques Morelenbaum.
  10. Brazilian fado singer Mariza, “Transparente”
  11. McCoy Tyner “Time for Tyner” Blue Note Japan 85th Anniversary UHQCD 599×597 173 KB
  12. Eddie Higgins “Speaking of Jobim” Sunnyside cd
  13. What bugs me most is the cost. . . which drives the releases I bet, in the form of profit. I could be wrong. I just won't pay that much . . . I like LPs but if I can get three or four cds for the cost of an LP. . . I will. Maybe this will come out on cd one day, I'd like to see what improvement may have been made over the bootlegs.
  14. Gato Barbieri “Latino America” Impulse 2 cd set, disc 1
  15. I started the morning off with this, "Duke at the Roadhouse--Roger Kellaway and Eddie Daniels Live in Santa Fe, NM" Yesterday when I was playing this my wife Lucinda said "I like that classical music you were playing." And I though yeah, it was jazz. . . no it was classical." It's both and it's fantastic! Eddie on reeds, Roger on piano and James Holland on cello. Amazing musicianship and interpretation and recording. After "Duke at the Roadhouse" I am spinning this one: Wolfgang Muthspiel "Where The River Goes" ECM cd
  16. Happy Birthday Lil Hardin Armstrong!
  17. The SEWE300B is such an amazing amp! I love mine!
  18. David Sanchez “Coral” Columbia SACD Followed by Ahmad Jamal “Emerald City Nights–Live at the Penthouse 1966-1968” disc 1 Followed by: Roger Kellaway and Eddie Daniels “Duke at the Roadhouse”
  19. “From Gagarin`s Point Of View” Esbjörn Svensson Trio
  20. Abdullah Ibrahim “3” cd 1 (rehearsal recording)
  21. Look like mules to me. I'm no expert though.
  22. “Classic Don Byas Sessions 1944-1946” Mosaic Records disc IV
