  1. Ruth Price's presence will likely not be a bad thing! Her Contemporary LP with Manne and His Men is quite good, and her album with Johnny Smith is excellent. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruth_Price

  5. I bought the 2 LP when it was first released, and I've loved it ever since. All of it.
  6. I too am interested in both those, and am happy to see they mention cd sets, hopefully to be listed soon on their website.
  7. As they almost universally issued cd in the past on RSD titles. . .it's possible they will list them soon. Or not. We'll see.
  8. A fantastic set! I've neglected this one for some time. . . since I bought the Japanese reissues from Warner that honestly . . . sound a bit better. That surprised me, but since they are in original album format it's easy to grab one and play it. . . and I do.
  9. “Eric Dolphy at the Five Spot, Vol. 2” New Jazz/Prestige RVG Remaster, Japan cd 2024 Best sounding version of this excellent material that I have.
  10. Sony Blu-Spec CD2, 2024, disc 1
  11. Oh yes, this was Kirby before he created the Fantastic Four for Marvel, and the final third of this series under Kirby was inked by Wally Wood, a great combination. (Kirby and Wood did a newspaper strip together previously). I didn't buy these off the rack originally (I was too young) but picked them up in the early 'eighties in reprints because. . . Kirby and Wood. I wasn't collecting comics then but . . .Kirby and Wood caused me to pick them up. I now have the edition pictured.
  12. Prince Lasha “Inside Story” Enja cd Also contains the album “Search for Tomorrow”

  19. Max has swallowed up HBO, no stand alone HBO any longer.
  20. Toninho Horta “Once I Loved” Verve cd
  21. I own that too. I like the BBC sessions better by more than a few hairs. Right now My copy of the Barylli Quartet’s Beethoven String Quartet cycle arrived today from Japan, reissued in the UHQCD format. Beethoven: The Complete String Quartets [Limited Release] [UHQCD] Barylli Quartet CD Album A budget production in that it comes in a clamshell sort of box with plastic sleeves and a booklet, but the UHQCD format is handsome and the sound is quite good as far as mastering goes. The sonic character is typical of well-recorded early fifties mono, and though I wish there were a bit more “oomph” to the cello, there’s little else to complain about. So far I’d say that the interpretation is not too adventurous but plenty expressive. Will be interesting to hear the entire cycle. I notice that Japan has also reissued a five cd set of the Mozart quartets by these gents on this label, as well as a single cd of the quintets. . . in UHQCD. I ordered those.
  22. I took it slowly but it was rewarding. I'm in my slow and steady in rotation listen to the box for a second time, and I think over time I'll listen to it more often than the other material.
