  1. "The Complete Joe Henderson Blue Note Studio Sessions" Mosaic Records disc III
  2. Jimmy Witherspoon "Goin' to Kansas City Blues" Mosaic Records cd Originally an RCA LP. Great band, great singer, great KC spirit.
  3. Tania Maria, "Olha Quem Chega" Her second album, featuring her vocals with orchestra, very different from her later work. Followed by The Duke Ellington Orchestra (conducted by Mercer Ellington) "Only God Can Make a Tree" Music Masters cd This one has had to grow on me over the years, but it has. Pretty nice cd to play a bit louder than usual.
  4. Tatiana Parra "Inteira" A lovely voice from Brazil.
  5. Evil, CBS/Paramount. Wow, this is a fantastic show. Sister Andrea, Demon Slayer!
  6. Barney Wilen "Le Ca" Venus cd I have two other versions of this one, my favorite Barney Wilen--you can sense his joy and excitement of recording at Rudy Van Gelder's studio, or so I imagine. Barney gets a beautiful sound out of soprano, tenor and baritone and Rudy captured it very very well. Great rhythm section too! Barney Wilen, Kenny Barron, Ira Coleman, Lewis Nash
  7. 1m “Miles Davis in Europe” Sony Blu-Spec CD Japan. This is one of the releases of this material with unedited performances and includes the great “I Thought about You” that was not on the original LP. (Covers for this release always say stereo, there were fake stereo LP versions but most every cd reissue is the original mono).
  8. Miles Davis "Miles in Berlin" Sony SR 9708. DSD mastered lp facsimile cd. One of the first recordings of Miles with Wayne in the Quintet. I love this version of "Autumn Leaves". . . there was an energy wth this new person in the group that comes through, and this mono recording is nicely balanced.
  9. I'd welcome that and who knows, maybe one day. I honestly enjoy their original compositions on these recordings most.
  10. Quite good. I haven't heard one with "bad sound." And I think I have them all.
  11. SFJazz Collective "Original Compositions and Works by Wayne Shorter" disc 3
  12. Bob Dylan "World Gone Wrong" Sony Blu-Spec CD2
  13. Miles Davis "Quiet Nights" Sony SRCS 9734 DSD mastered lp facsimile cd I totally understand why Miles and Gil didn't want this album released. . . it was an incomplete project that needed more rehearsal and material. But I still love it. This is the best-sounding digital version I have.
  14. Chick Corea & Origin "A Week at the Blue Note" disc 6 Every disc in this 6 disc set is a nice listen.
  15. Mario Adnet "More Jobim Jazz"
  16. Tania Maria "Tempo" cd This is one of my favorite Tania Maria discs. It's just Tania and Eddie Gomez. These are both masters of their instruments and also very confident performers, willing to plunge deep into a tune and performance and reap rewards. And it's an interesting recording, putting you right in front of the musicians in a realistic and "alive way."
  17. He was a funny man. His live intros were something.
  18. Disc 1 of 4. This was a great deal, used for 12 dollars. www.dustygroove.com has a new copy for 23 which is still a great deal. Sound isn't perfect, but seems pretty decent on all discs (mono). Ray Charles "Antibes 1961"
  19. Today I felt like starting off with some Bud Freeman. This one has some really interesting work on clarinet by Peanuts Hucko, who I saw in San Antionio before he passed away. I love this style of jazz. It's hard to feel bad when it's spinning. And Bud had a certain shape to his sound that was both heavy and light at once. That's the best way I can describe it. Bud Freeman "1946" Chronogical Classics cd
  20. SFJazz Collective "The Music of Thelonious Monk& Original Compositions" disc 2 (the original compositions).
  21. Tania Maria "I Put a Spell on You"
  22. Stan Getz & Chet Baker "The Stockholm Concerts" Verve cd 3 Nice accompaniment and pretty darned nice sound. Bass – George Mraz Drums – Victor Lewis Piano – Jim McNeely Tenor Saxophone – Stan Getz Trumpet – Chet Baker
  23. Continuing my way through the Tania Maria catalog. Tania Maria "Viva Brazil" Concord Picante cd Bass – Carlos Werneck, Marc Bertaux Drums – Stéphane Huchard Drums, Percussion – Luiz Augusto Cavani Percussion – Mestre Carneiro Piano, Vocals, Synthesizer, Producer – Tania Maria Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet – Claudio De Queiroz This one is a Tania Maria production, and I like it a lot. There's a real sameness to her catalog, but if the music is this good it's not a problem!
  24. Listening to this disc 2 again. It has a really nice blend of jazz and funk and that sort of unique British verve that King Crimson and other seminal prog bands were beginning to mine.
