    Bob Dylan corner

In this interview about the upcoming (next week!) box set Berkowitz mentions that he is in the studio working on a Miles Davis set (at the very beginning of the interview and the very end). No real details but still. . . cool. https://timcumming.wordpress.com/2021/09/11/bob-dylans-bootleg-series-producer-steve-berkowitz-speaks/
  2. I don't really feel there are different arrangements at play here other than the brief bits used as a "theme". . . . Different performances though, and they're all interesting.
  3. With organic whole milk, hot. . . I'd rather drink this than anything intoxicating. So good.
  4. Svensk Jazzhistoria Vol. 10 "Swedish Jazz 1965 - 1969 Watch Out!" disc 1
  5. I don't have any bootleg material from these releases so i'm really looking forward tho this set as well.
  6. Now, something very different. Getting ready for the next Bootleg Series Volume coming out next week . . . . Bob Dylan "Empire Burlesque" Sony Blu-Spec CD2. The material from this album in the upcoming Volume is supposedly somewhat stripped of the production elements that annoy most of us. . . that should be interesting.
  7. For me either. New vinyl is way too expensive for me and a crapshoot often quality- and defect-free-wise.
  8. Understood, my best friend in Austin just experienced a 25,000 dollar house repair and had to cancel his preorder; I bought the UHQCD set and gave him my US set because I know how much he was looking forward to this (being both a Morgan fan and a jazz trumpeter as well). It will be around when you get around to affording it. The 12 LP set. . . probably not.
  9. The first disc of this ten cd set. . . Anthony Braxton Quartet "(Standards) 2020" I keep trying Braxton and this is a Braxton project I like, in large part because I like the work of Alexander Hawkins, pianist here.
  10. Barney Wilen, "La Note Bleue" 2 cd set. Disc 2, the live concert from '89 with Jackie Terrasson, Gilles Natural and Peter Gritz. Sound is decent if not great. Playing is wonderful!
  11. A more modern mix, the presentation brought forward, slightly (slightly, imo nothing to worry about) louder than the 3 cd version.
  12. Mose Allison "Autumn Song" Prestige/OJC cd. I short-change Allison's piano playing and shouldn't--his was a real talent and he fused a true jazz style with a swing of its own. And then there's that uniquely phrased flowing voice.
  13. Watched a few episodes of "For the Love of Kitchens" with Lucinda. . . she loves that show
  14. Sorry. I no longer work. It's bad for my health.
  15. Hey so do I! Though I have outfitted mine with all the Groovetracer mods, a TTPSU, an Elys2 cartridge and the new Rega Reference belt, and those really have made solid improvements.
  16. The last disc to listen to on this first time through the UHQCD set from Japan--disc 1 because I am going backwards this time. Lee Morgan "Complete Live at the Lighthouse 1970" Blue Note Japan UHQCD box set, disc 1
  17. "Brand New! Swedish Jazz 1960-1964" Caprice Records 4 cd set, disc 1
  18. Barney Wilen "La Note Bleue" newe 2 cd set, disc 1 https://www.loustal.nl/2021/assets/images/barney-blue2.jpg[/img] So glad this is now available on cd! I didn't want to spend the dollars on the 2 LP set as I didn't need the book and the price was too high. . . and I'm not buying new vinyl. The second disc is a concert with Jacky Terrason on piano, looking forward to hearing that later this week. I'm a huge Barney fan. I've had this on cd for a long time. It's not one of my very favorite Wilens but I'm always going to enjoy listening to Barney.
  19. Sad, sad, sad. I enjoyed his work. RIP.
  20. Second to the last disc to listen to on this first time through the UHQCD set from Japan--disc 2 because I am going backwards this time. Really enjoying this box set, one of the best reissues of the year. Maupin is a great composer and player and adds real heft to this Morgan outfit. Lee Morgan "Complete Live at the Lighthouse 1970" Blue Note Japan UHQCD box set, disc 2
  21. I think it's a nice appelation for jazz between the early and New Orleans and Bebop!
  22. I like the notion above of the four eras of jazz.
  23. I was not claiming that reissue DID have the "Blue John" material, I was adding the fact that it contained the same Braith sessions you noted were on Blue Note Works. I'm not crazy about "Blue John". . . or Braith actually, which dampens my enthusiasm for the material. But any John Patton is worth a listen.
  24. That Patton is a cool SHM-CD. The Braith material was also reissued in the US here
  25. Doom Patrol, Season 2. Love this show!
