  1. The Band, "Stage Fright--50th Anniversary" 2 cd edition "Oh, you don't know the shape I'm in. . . "
  2. Yes, good stuff, I also picked up his 2020 quartet recording with Turner. Now disc 2, Jason Palmer, "The Concert: 12 Musings for Isabella"
  3. This one is rather samba centric, which is not always the case with Neto. I really love these perhaps my favorites. . . any would be a good entry point:
  4. Jovino Santos Neto "Nordeste do Alma" Adventure Music cd If my wife were home we'd be dancing. Can't sit still with this one.
  5. I have all the Commodore sets, I have the Hall/DeParis/Dickerson and the DeFranco/Clark (the latter I am trying to sell as I prefer to listen to cd and have this on cd). All great stuff. The Commodore are the ones I would and do play a lot. So many gems in those boxes!
  6. Ben Thomas "The Madman's Difference" Origin Records cd I bought this because of the presence of Jovino Santos Neto who I admire very much, and I'm glad that I went for it. Following Neto has always proven beneficial.
  7. You mean a Cuica? He's not the only one who uses that. I heard Don Alias do that live once with Jaco Pastorius. Anyway, nice to know there's more from that first LP session.
  8. I'm replaying the Dearie disc as both Verve albums on it have Kenny Burrell on board, and man Kenny at the end of the 'fifties is a joy to hear over and over! Now on to a 2 cd set i bought to hear Mark Turner, Jason Palmer, "The Concert: 12 Musings for Isabella"
  9. Now on to "Blossom Dearie sings Comden and Green" from the same disc in the box set.
  10. "The Little Jazz Bird" that is Blossom Dearie, "My Gentleman Friend" Verve session, on disc 3 from the newly released Fremeaux 3 cd set. Charm is Blossom. I was very surprised that my wife loved the Dearie tracks she heard on The Marvelous Mrs. Maizel show from amazon. . . I'll try this set out on her soon.
  11. That's wonderful Pim. I hope your wife continues to recover gracefully and completely and that you stay uninfected. I'm not quite two weeks away from my second shot and looking forward to it.
  12. Miles Davis "Four & More" Mobile Fidelity SACD
  13. For sale: "The Complete Pacific Jazz Live Recordings of the Chet Baker Quartet with Russ Freeman" 3 cd Mosaic box set. I bought this set during a senior moment not realizing that I had ordered it elsewhere during a box set buying binge. Honestly this is a pretty darned pristine set, I'd say NM- if I were judging it; seller called it NM. I am asking 90 dollars including media mail postage within the US; US sales only please. If interested please contact me at lonjazz@yahoo.com or PM me here. Thanks!
  14. I bought this LP version of "The Complete Verve Recordings of the Buddy DeFranco Quartet/Quintet with Sonny Clark" by accident--I didn't realize it was the LP version. I have since bought the cd version and don't need both. I'll sell this for 100 dollars even including media mail shipping within the US. US sales only please--a bit of a loss to me. If interested PM me here or email me at lonjazz@yahoo.com. Thanks!
  15. Bob Dylan "Rough and Rowdy Ways" Sony Japan 2 cd set, disc 1 This is a masterful work imo.
  16. The 5th and final disc of the "Complete Capitol Live Recordings of the George Shearing Quintet" on Mosaic Records, cd version. I had to put something pleasant and breezy on after discovering that my favorite US high school teacher (I only went to high school the final two years in the US) passed away yesterday, and I found out when someone posted a picture of him in the classroom including me as a very competently slouching student from about 49 years ago. Sad. He was never boring--boredom was my biggest enemy in those years as I had learned so much in the boarding school I was at in Swaziland that almost all the cirriculum was something I had learned before.
  17. Me slouching so competently in class with my favorite teacher in that school, Charlie Caputo (went there only my final two years of high school). Probably 49 years ago.

The Audio Wave sound a tad more dynamic and a tad more "vivid" than the TOCJ and the sound stage is deeper and taller than the TOCJ on my system when I have compared a few titles. I have compared Redbook discs, I don't listen to MP3 in any format. These are significant differences for my enjoyment of the sessions. I've not kept many of the same titles in the TOCJ series that I have in the Audio Wave as I prefer to reach for the Audio Wave.
  19. "The Classical Jazz Quartet plays Bach" Bass – Ron Carter Drums – Lewis Nash Piano – Kenny Barron Producer, Arranged By – Bob Belden Vibraphone – Stefon Harris
  20. "Bud Shank/Shorty Rogers--Bud Shank/Bill Perkins" Pacific Jazz Toshiba Superbit Jazz Classics LP facsimle cd. Two different sessions, and an alternate from the second. Jimmy Rowles on piano on the first, Hampton Hawes on the second. . . hard to get better West Coast piano playing.
