  1. Charlie Parker, "The Savoy 10 Inch LP Collection" Concord cd Sound is pretty darned good. I thought a 10 inch was an EP? Regardless this was a good excuse to buy this material over again!
  2. This was recorded in the studio in 2012, after the 2011 tour. There's a new flood of copies of these sets lately on both amazon and Dusty Groove--the latter are cheaper when they have them. I have a few on the way that I think complete my collection. Yes, I'd love to see a Hutcherson tour planned and recorded.
  3. Horace Silver Quintet, "The Stylings of Silver" 24 bit by RVG Blue Note Japan cd
  4. SF Jazz Collective "Wonder: the Music of Stevie Wonder" A studio album (not a compilation from the live cds of the tour for this music by the Collective). Quite nice.
  5. At least right here where I am this Q conspiracy network is so much larger than any conspiracy theories that we fostered and lived among before, and though in this instance little old ladies were driving the SUVs with the stickers those I actually have heard and read discussing the BS were in their twenties and thirties, definitely not boomers. And it's a nasty and dangerous web of lies, that threatens the distribution of truth and like all good delusions is impervious to "truth" and has its own loop of logic, a circle very hard to be broken. In my own opinion the challenges of the next decade are to shine disinfecting light on systemic racism and slice up the gap between the haves and have nots in this nation, and this Q is going to be a major hindrance on the journey.
  6. I realize more and more that I am very fortunate all my own family are firmly in the same camp. This Q-Anon is awful. It has crept into the Facebook posts of a few of my in-laws, and on the way to and from my weekly grocery store run this morning I saw two Q stickers on SUVs, both driven by . ..the stereotypical little old ladies. Just scary and apalling.
  7. I'm actually listening to this on the "Live in San Francisco" cd--wish it had been reissued separately in Japan.
  8. Nah, "Re: Imagined" wasn't doing it for me, so Miles Davis "Circle in the Round" Columbia LPs sides 3 and 4.
  9. "Blue Note Re: Imagined" disc 2
  10. It's a Fender Bass VI. I have a Japanese reissue. Very cool instrument. https://www.fender.com/articles/gear/the-bass-vi-part-guitar-part-bass-all-epic
  11. Mark Turner "In this World" Warner Bros cd.
  12. Lafayette Gilchrist "Now" 2 cd set
  13. LOL. . . I can relate, totally. An Ohio thing, but not just an Ohio thing.
  14. "Charles Mingus Presents Charles Mingus" I wanted to hear "Fables of Faubus." For some reason.
  15. Lafayette Gilchrist "Now" (2 cd) I wish Mr. Gilchrist would have his work mastered less "loud." Great music.
  16. Miles Davis "Circle in the Round" Columbia 2 LP set, Record 1
  17. Flora Purim "500 Miles High-- at Montreux" Milestone LP This very LP made me fall in love with Flora. I was already a big fan of Airto's but hadn't been really jealous of him yet. . . .
  18. My wallet took a hit. I noticed that Dusty Groove has a handful of the SF Jazz Collective sets not only available but at great prices and grabbed those that I did not have, and added a few "forthcoming" to my Watch List. Perhaps these are being repressed? I also noticed that Amazon had a few more (pricier) newly arrived and purchased two of those. I will soon only lack 3 of their releases.
  19. I've had two motorcycle accidents and know what can happen and have been fortunate not to be hurt worse. I also had a car accident and was perhaps worse for the wear in that accident. I was also hit by a car in inner city Philadelphia at age 9 crossing at a crosswalk--drunk driver turned the wrong way onto a one way street, clipped my left hip and threw me into the air. None of these were my fault. . . . Anything can happen anytime and I have decided just not to dwell on them or let them decide for me whether I ride, drive or walk across intersections.
  20. Right now listening to disc 2. SFJazz Collective "Original Compositions & Works of Herbie Hancock"
  21. And interestingly on yesterday's date in '31 Pops recorded "Georgia on my Mind" . . . .
  22. Good points. Modern bikes are safer and more reliable in general. Though a seasoned rider with decades under the belt might prefer the "work" and feel of an older bike. Personally I know how it feels to be "hit by a truck" because almost exactly 10 years ago I was rear-ened by a pickup truck while I was stopped waiting to make a left turn. It doesn't feel good. Luckily I somehow was okay other than a very badly bruised lower back area where my seat backrest resisted be being pushed backwards.
