  1. A sad morning. I’m starting to slowly lose my listening partner, Fiona the miniature dachshund. She’s nearly blind, nearly deaf, and fading. She’s been my good companion for years and I hate seeing her this way. I’m taking good care of her. Right now we’re listening to Dave Burrell “High Won – High Two” Freedom/Muzak Japan lp facsimile cd Fascinating.
  2. I miss Christiern. . . he was problematic sometimes, and he and I got into it often, but made up and became correspondents in his final years. But what a legacy. . . .
  3. Looks awesome Charles--and I bet the sound is out of this world.

    Hindall Butts

Possibly what happened is he did not (wish to?) leave Detroit. . . and had only a local career for a spell.

  9. Deliciously cool out this morning. Walking the old dog is getting harder. . .she doesn't like the dark as much now and she is not as interested in walking. Sat down and decided to spin this one again. Just because.

    Hindall Butts

Perhaps they were signed to Transition by Wilson and the label went out of business before any recordings were made. Drummer Butts released singles in '68 and '70 on other labels.
  11. Now onto a new arrival, the new remaster reissue of Sun Ra “Strange Strings” . . . a bizarre even by Ra standards recording. If it weren’t for the anchor of the amazing Ronnie Boykins bass playing . . . i probably would not listen to this. The original cd issue has been in deep storage a long time so I can’t do a comparison but the sound of this mastering is excellent. Cosmic Myth Records cd
  12. Re-listened to “The Genius of Coleman Hawkins” because it was still in the transport and . . . well it’s a great album. Now, enjoying the cool and quiet of this lovely morning, I’m on to “Stan Levey Quintet,” Mode/Muzak Japan lp facsimile cd. These Muzak remasterings sound wonderful! And this is a really nice date. 579×591 68.4 KB Quite a band! Piano – Lou Levy Bass – Monty Budwig Drums – Stan Levey Tenor Saxophone – Richie Kamuca Trumpet – Conte Candoli
  13. I don't have one beyond "it's cool." And probably a display of proficiency as I don't imagine that was an easy beginning to a solo.
