  1. +1 from Dan's comment. You've been missed.
  2. Duke Ellington "Blues in Orbit" Columbia/Analogue Productions SACD I have both the Mobile Fidelity SACD and this one from Analogue Productions (plus Redbook versions from Columbia, and an LP). Both the SACD are excellent sounding. I love this music! 500×500 37 KB
  3. Any shared tracks would be alternate takes. Now playing: Dora Morelenbaum “Pique” Since I love her parents’ work, it’s a no brainer that I am learning to love this one. 800×800 405 KB
  4. Dexter Gordon "The Other Side of Round Midnight" Blue Note cd Music not used in the film. I'm not crazy about that film. . . and I like this album better than the soundtrack album. Dexter Gordon, Wayne Shorter, Freddie Hubbard, Palle Mikkelborg, Herbie Hancock, Cedar Walton, Ron Carter, Mads Vinding, Pierre Michelot, Billy Higgins Tony Williams, Bobby McFerrin, John McLaughlin, Bobby Hutcherson
  5. Again, because mid-way through yesterday's listening my wife decided to turn "Viet Nam in HD" up way loud downstairs and the Quintet was punctuated with explosions and helicopter sounds loudly brom behind . . . not ideal. Great performance!
  6. The Maga 7 "Gloating comes Easy"
  7. Now on to disc 4, the first of the box set that I have not ever heard before. . . and I’m happy (though not too surprised) to discover the sound quality is up to the previous two night’s excellent standard. And the music is yet more of this quintet discovering what they can and will do, listening to each other and stretching out and into the changes. Amazing material! “Miles in France 1963 & 1964 The Bootleg Series, Vol. 8” disc 4
  8. Saw Chuck Nessa was playing this box set recently and realized I haven’t listened to it for some time. Now playing record 1. “Saxophone Giants” RCA 3 LP box set
  9. The late Lou Donaldson at his 97th birthday party, Dizzy’s 2023
  10. Weather Report “Sweetnighter” Columbia LP Listening to this one more time before refiling it. Such memories this vinyl evokes. A cool morning and Fiona let me sleep an hour plus longer and I’m grateful. Saw a doe and a yearling in my back yard this morning. She wasn’t worried about Fiona but was staring me down. I just stood there (about 60 feet away) and talked gently to her. After a few minutes she moved her kiddo along slowly into the wood between my nearest neighbor and our property. Was a great moment. I love the bass playing of Messrs Vitous and White on this album!
  11. I've listened to each disc twice now. A fantastic set. And a benchmark in remastering of this sort of material in my opinon.
  12. I din''t get that impression. But honestly, who do you think HERE in this little internet island has an answer? Chuck MIGHT, and I'd value any info or impressions he might add, but. . . that's about it. When I have these sort of questions that I want answers to, I do some research elsewhere, like querying amazon or Sony. If I can't easily get a response from those quarters. . . I usually decide I'm not meant to know and move on.
  13. Well your focus is clear. Go and find the answer!
  14. Re-listening to this disc before moving on, it’s a good chunk of “Miles Davis in Europe” plus the track “Bye Bye Blackbird” which was not on that original LP. Phenomenal music I've loved for about 50 years (except "Bye Bye Blackbird" which I have known for a shorter period of time). “Miles in France 1963 & 1964 The Bootleg Series, Vol. 8” disc 3
  15. I don't think anyone here has that answer. You could see if you can get an answer from amazon perhaps. I would think the more useful information might be for Sony to obtain and report. . . they would be the final decider on what material they own to reissue and they would know what quantities they shipped to each amazon store and other vendors. If these items are really "limited" (I think ultimately they are) if they sell out or don't should be useful information that Sony possibly collects via requests or lack thereof for further shipments, or requests from their clients.
  16. As far as I know Sony is a Japanese company. They sell worldwide. Check them out, maybe they have a link you can make a query.
  17. Nat King Cole Sings, George Shearing Plays Capitol cd
  18. I have no idea. The two persons I corresponded with and could make inquiries like this to have now both passed on, sadly. I would think though that if anyone has a handle on the sales in the Japanese market and what that means for the market in Japan it is Sony Japan.
  19. I don't know. I got mine from Japan and it was "a limited edition" and is no longer available for sale from cdjapan.
  20. I love this material . . . I have both the LP and cd version. As well as much of it on US Columbia LPs Fantastic, varied musical performances.
  21. “Miles in France 1963 & 1964 The Bootleg Series, Vol. 8” disc 3 2000×2000 228 KB 500×500 26.9 KB
  22. Had a great dinner with my brother and sister-in-law, so good to have a long talk with them about this year and its many events. Now a very cool morning with a hungry dog and a stereo system warming up. This is the second time I’ve revisited this recording from the mid-nineties in the last wo mnths. It sounds so good on the system now and I appreciate it in a new way. Herbie Hancock “The New Standard” Verve cd What a band! Herbie Hancock - piano Michael Brecker - tenor and soprano saxophone John Scofield - acoustic and electric guitar, electric sitar Dave Holland - acoustic bass Jack DeJohnette - drums, electric percussion Don Alias - percussion 500×495 37.7 KB
