  1. Check out Hal McKusick and Dave Pell.
  2. Decca - The Mono Years, disc 34. Also includes:
  3. The literature says that many of them (most?) were melted down, probably to assist the war effort. These still exist because they were sent to Europe.
  4. Has anyone compared the sound quality of "Hot And Bothered" on Ellington In Order Volume 1 to this: https://www.offbeat.com/news/incredibly-clear-duke-ellington-recording-surfaces-online/
  5. Just make a playlist containing all you want to hear from the EHD. In iTunes/Music, go to File>New>Playlist, and drag whatever you want to hear into the new playlist, then play that playlist.
  6. I was on A&M's mailing list for the first part of 1973. I couldn't relate to what they sent me - it was made for someone else, not for me. Probably reflected a Southern California soft-rock zeitgeist (though with a few exceptions), and I kept almost none of it. Some titles I remember are: Shawn Phillips - Faces, Peter Frampton - Frampton's Camel, Lani Hall - Sun Down Lady, Roger Kellaway - Center Of The Circle, Quincy Jones - You've Got It Bad Girl, Joan Baez - Where Are You Now My Son?, Cheryl Dilcher - Butterfly, Hoyt Axton - Less Than The Song, Tim Weisberg - Hurtwood Edge, Joan Armatrading - Whatever's For Us, and Gallagher & Lyle - Willie & The Lapdog. Three I kept were the first Stealer's Wheel album, Charles Lloyd - Waves (I really liked "T.M." with The Beach Boys backing), and Michael Murphey - Cosmic Cowboy Souvenir.
  7. I've own iMacs and Apple-related items for 20+ years. I use iCloud mainly for photos (because it's great to have them on all my devices) and various documents I might need in a pinch. I've found that, nonetheless, I've needed to upgrade to 200 GB of storage for $2.99 a month. You just have to laugh. I don't use iCloud for music. Over the years, I've amassed an impressive number of old iPods, usually because their batteries have worn out. I keep one with 32 GB in my car. It holds about 1,000 tracks. Because it's plugged into the car's USB port, I don't have to worry about the shot battery, and every so often I switch out the music. Here I want to give a plug for the AudioQuest "Jitterbug FMJ USB Data & Power Noise Filter." I don't know how the thing works, but it truly makes my car stereo sound better. It plugs into the car's USB port, and the iPod gets plugged into the Jitterbug. AudioQuest claims it "reduces jitter and package errors." Whatever, but it does work. Getting back to iCloud, don't forget that you can also use Dropbox. It has great integration with MacOS and iOS. Check Apple Music (aka iTunes) as to where your music's being ripped to. Go to Music/Settings... /Files and see what it says under "Music Media folder location." Make sure both "Keep Music Media folder organized" and "Copy files to Music Media folder when adding to library" are checked.
  8. Regarding Bu Pleasant, if anyone near Austin is interested: https://txarchives.org/utcah/finding_aids/01275.xml
  9. Wasn't it Moss who kicked Captain Beefheart off the label as "too negative"? Still, you can't deny what A&M achieved. Sun-drenched California MOR, of which The Carpenters were the epitome. RIP.
  10. Uncategorizable music, really. Disc 3.

    Jim Snidero

The real problem with Jim Snidero is: he should have dropped the "o" and passed himself off as Twisted Sister's Dee Snider's brother.

    Jim Snidero

But sgcim says he heard it on the radio. How, short of having somehow decided to record it beforehand, could he have proof? Why not just recognize it as, literally, "heresay," and move on? Not everything needs to be agreed-with.
