  1. Have they at least removed the Youtube logo? There are some buyer comments on the Steve Hoffman forum: http://www.stevehoffman.tv/forums/showthre...0712&page=7

Thanks Brownie. The reissue producer is selling the LPs on Ebay. The auction listing has some interesting info and more pictures: http://cgi.ebay.com/NATHAN-DAVIS-peace-tre...1QQcmdZViewItem
  3. Go easy with the writing speed. 4x should be maximum with such an old PC. I don't know which writing software comes with that burner, but my recommendation goes to Nero 6 (not 7, which is too bloated with useless features).
  4. Must have been sabotage by those Uzbekistan agents who infiltrated the Russian Ministry of Culture.
  5. Is that from The Onion?
  6. The previously unreleased stuff could be obscure live recordings. Membran is a public domain and bootleg label, they don't have access to official vaults. Don't expect discographical miracles from them.
  7. Does the drive open and close when not connected to a computer (only to the mains of course)? If not it's clearly defective.
  8. Was it? I thought Riverside didn't use RVG for their recordings. Guy That was my thought too. But Lon is right. I just checked the CD.
  9. When you connect it to any Windows 2000/XP PC, the drive should automatically be added as DVD/CD reader that you can see as an additional drive in Windows Explorer (unless the Windows account has limited user rights), without having to install a driver or software. When you install the CD/DVD writing software, it will be recognized as a burner.
  10. So far the Concord RVGs were limited to sessions Rudy Van Gelder has recorded (i.e. on Prestige), but most of these are on Riverside.
  11. It should not be a problem, but try the rear connection anyway. It will eliminate a possible source of error (front connector not supporting USB 2.0)
  12. No, if your mainboard supports USB 2.0 it should work.
  13. deus62 is still here, under a new name
  14. Wikipedia had to lock it's article on Kazakhstan, because of vandalism by Borat fans. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kazakhstan http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,300...3550524,00.html
  15. What about the green Volkwagen Beetle that shows up multiple times during the chase? http://www.rjsmith.com/bullitt-locations.html
  16. A friend lent me the DVD of the movie. I must have watched the chase scene 10 times, but haven't managed to go through the whole movie. I always had to skip back to that incredible scene ...
  17. I´ve read elsewhere that Caiman has almost nothing in stock, so it's pointless to order stuff that is OOP.
  18. My first thought was that Putin was demonstrating his might over Europe (like he does with Georgia), but so far he only controls the european natural gas supply ...
  19. According to Spiegel Online, the origin for the european-wide power outage may have been in Papenburg, Germany, where a high voltage electricity line crossing a channel had been shut down to allow the new cruise ship Norvegian Pearl to exit the Papenburg docks safely. http://www.spiegel.de/panorama/0,1518,446546,00.html http://www.cruise-ship-report.com/News/101806.htm
  20. No problem here in Luxembourg, although all the neighbour countries were regionally affected by the outage. Damn privatization. Despite all the promises about better service and prices through competition, prices go up and reliability goes down. Sharon Beder - Thieves in the Night
  21. Funny, but it can't be real.
  22. Err, I just checked the link and saw it's an external burner. Does your PC have a USB 2.0 connection? This was not standard in 2000. It will not work with USB 1.1, which is much too slow for burning DVD-Rs. You would have to get an USB 2.0 PCI card or use an internal IDE burner.
  23. That is actually not the hardware requirement for the burner but for the software that comes with it. I don't think you'll have a problem with it, but with such an old computer, which has not only a slower CPU but also a slow hard drive, you will probably not be able to burn DVD-Rs at the highest possible speeds (8-16x). Not a big deal really, it just takes more time to burn the disc. A year ago, I still had an Athlon 1000 with 384MB of RAM and was able to burn DVDs at 4x speed, using Nero 6 (which is better than the overloaded Nero 7 in my view). With 8x speed, there were occasional problems, so I preferred the slower and safer speed.
  24. Isn't that obvious? You can't steal CDs in online stores ...
