Yeah, but what they've got right now is having their passports seized to prevent them from leaving the country before investigators say they can.
Isn't that normal for an investigation into an accident causing 150 deaths? You don't simply let the pilots involved leave the country. Although it doesn't look like they are responsible for causing the crash, it cannot be excluded until the investigation has reached a more advanced point.
I don't think US authorities would let them go either (if the situation was reversed).
I know this was common with the Count Basie and Duke Ellington orchestras, but I think already that was quite misleading, and I'm sure that many record buyers didn't notice that subtle difference in the name and were surprised to find out that the legendary bandleaders were not present on the recordings (which could have been made before their death). A name like "Duke Ellington Legacy Orchestra" would have been more appropriate.
Imagine V.S.O.P. touring as the "Miles Davis Band" ...
This new CD is a real scam in my view, because the title suggests a historic meeting between Ray and Count. I'm only commenting on the marketing aspect, not the artistic problem of such a studio collage.
I don't have the "Night train" CD, but the Verve CDs I own (most of them recent remasters in the Verve Elite, Verve Master Edition, LPR, Verve by request series) don't generally sound more bass-shy than CDs from other labels (Blue Note, OJC, Sony)
Strangely, there are no french or german classical CD guides. There were two french ones which started during the CD reissue boom in the early 90, but they have ceased operations a few years ago. I've never seen a german CD guide. There are general introduction books with CD recommendations, but no comprehensive guide such as the Penguin.
The music on John Surman's album "Private city" was composed for a ballet of the same name.
This is from an interview:

Wynton Marsalis composed the music for the ballets "Jump start" and "Jazz - Six Syncopated movements".

For those who don't know the album or who want to check the sound quality:
The track "Don't Let It Happen Here" from the new CD can be downloaded on AAJ (it's a 160kbs MP3 file):

Is there a way to integrate an Organissimo referrer into Amazon links, just like there is with CD Universe (&frm=lk_organissimo). I would like to use it as a bookmark so to be sure Organissimo benefits from all my purchases.
This is the CD Universe link with integrated Organissimo referer, that you can bookmark:
http://www.cduniverse.com/default.asp?styl...=lk_organissimo
Amazon uses a "&tag=XXXX" string in the referrer URL, where XXXX is the code name of the affiliated site, but I don't know the code name for Organissimo
BTW, the first half of the Monk DVD is the same performance as on the bonus DVD of the Monk In Paris: Live At The Olympia CD, but without the 1990's french TV logo in the corner of the screen
